Nerang VIEW meets every second Thursday of the month at Nerang RSL. VIEW stands for the Voice, Interests and Education of Women.

http://www.view.org.au/who-we-are/ VIEW is a leading women's national volunteer organisation with more than 15,000 participants, providing the opportunity for women from all walks of life to meet regularly, establish lasting friendships and help disadvantaged Australian children through supporting the work of children’s charity, The Smith Family. Driven by the mission of creating social change in Australian communities, VIEW empowers women to have their voices heard on issues of importance for the future wellbeing of Australian society. There are more than 300 VIEW Clubs around Australia open to women of all ages. VIEW offers a friendship network, providing fun and a sense of purpose for members through supporting the education of disadvantaged Australian children. As a valued part of The Smith Family, VIEW members help to change the lives of young Australians in need through fundraising, volunteering, advocating and sponsoring disadvantaged students on The Smith Family's Learning for Life program. Together VIEW Clubs sponsor more than 1,800 disadvantaged students through the Learning for Life program.

Marie, Annette and Jennifer are at the Lady Small Haven Retirement Village Market Day with their trading table of homemade goodies and crafts, raising money for the Nerang VIEW Club.
Come on down to the apartment building from 10am until 12pm.

Today the Nerang VIEW Club met up for their October meeting at the Nerang RSL Club.
The guest speaker was Nancy Hansch.
Nancy is known for her lively film and television reviews on the ABC, but back in the 1980s and 1990s she was a Hollywood casting director. Her tales, and secrets, of Hollywood celebrities kept us in constant laughter.
After a delicious two-course meal, the monthly meeting included celebrating the birthdays of Marie, Val and Noreen. Val also won the Lucky Door prize and Alicia won the Raffle prize. Bo was presented with her Nerang VIEW Club badge. Congratulations to all the Ladies. 🥳

September Meeting

Due to illness, there were only 18 members present at our September luncheon meeting. Get well soon everyone. 💜

Vice-President Carolyn welcomed our newest member Noreen, who transferred from Burwood VIEW Club in Sydney. Noreen has joined the residents at Earl Haven Retirement Village. Noreen's daughter found our club advertised on the Gold Coast Directory website. 🥳🥳

Dee won the lucky door prize and Carol won the raffle. 🥳🥳 Helen and Annette both have September birthdays. 🥳🥳 Annette participated in Walk for VIEW and with the support of club members and friends raised $200 for The Smith Family. 🥳🥳

Jenny is looking for suggestions for our Friendship Luncheon on 29th October.

After a delicious two-course lunch with plenty of lively conversations, our guest speaker John S. Hudson spoke to us.

John S. Hudson has been a professional speaker for over 20 years. He had the honour of representing Australia in three World Snooker Championships. The highlight of John's career was to be selected as the Australian Captain to the World Cup of Snooker in 2006.
John had to overcome a debilitating Parkinson's tremor/shake in his right hand to start all over again from scratch and then to train himself to play LEFT-HANDED, to go on to win Championships again.
John provided a truly heart-felt inspirational message describing his Five Principles of Success and how John C. Coleman's book, "Stop Parkin' and Start Livin'", helped to achieve his goals.

Every day we see how educational support can help children and young people pursue their goals and aspirations.

Charity is about more than giving. It's about creating opportunities, removing barriers and helping ensure more children have the support they need to participate in school and make the most of their education.
Together, we can help build a future where every child has the chance to learn, grow and thrive.

The August meeting marked the 38th birthday for the Nerang VIEW Club. 🥳

For 38 years, the Nerang VIEW Club have been raising awareness of women's issues and supporting the children’s charity, The Smith Family. VIEW Club members from Robina, Burleigh / Palm Beach, Currumbin / Elanora, Surfers Paradise and Runaway Bay joined the celebrations, along with four members from Carindale.

It was an extra special celebration for four Nerang members who received their Decade Service Pin. Our Zone Councillor, Di Stamp, had the pleasure of presenting Val and Coral with a 10 year pin, Helen with a 20 year pin and Annette with a 30 year pin.

A delicious two-course lunch was enjoyed followed by entertainment from a very talented young man, Jack Watson.

The theme for our birthday was "Wear a Scarf". Four ladies won a prize for their creative and elegant scarf wearing skills. And the lucky door prize for each table was a scarf hand knitted by a member or friend of the Nerang VIEW Club. More home-made goodies were available on the Trading Table including cakes, slices, tomato relish, lemon butter, cauliflower pickles, knee and baby rugs, placemats, tea-towels and microwave bowl holders. Nine ladies left with a raffle prize and everyone left with a piece of birthday cake and lolly box.

Happy 38th Birthday Nerang VIEW Club. 🥳
