Today was such a fun-filled day at the Telethon7 Perth Family Festival! And there was a very special new face flying the flag for NeuroKids 👋

Meet Neuro, our new neuron mascot and a fun reminder of the amazing world inside our brains.
Neuro had a brilliant first day out, dancing, meeting kids and adults and spreading plenty of smiles, while our team welcomed families to the Neurological Council of WA stall for colouring-in, brain games and lots of brainy fun.

As a proud Telethon beneficiary through our NeuroKids program, it was wonderful to be part of such a special event for WA families and to share a little more about brain health along the way.

Thank you to all who stopped by for a chat (or a high five with Neuro 🖐️✨🧠) and those who made this day so special for the community.

💙 Meet Olive, one of our incredible NeuroKids.

Four-year-old Olive lives with Segawa syndrome, a rare neurological condition that can make everyday life incredibly challenging. But as her family shares in this weekend's West Australian, Olive continues to embrace life with remarkable determination.

Through NeuroKids, our paediatric neurological nurse Nicola Goddard supports Olive and her family with regular home visits, symptom management and clinical observations, while helping to coordinate care between her specialists and GP. Olive’s mum, Nadia, says having NeuroKids has helped them keep Olive supported and cared for at home, where she feels most comfortable.

We’re incredibly proud to support children like Olive and their families through NeuroKids, our free paediatric neurological nursing service funded by Telethon7 Perth.

What a wonderful way to celebrate National Carers Week!

Our NeuFriends communities in Geraldton and Bunbury came together today to connect, celebrate and recognise the many carers who give so much to those around them.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Carers WA and Lotterywest for supporting these events and helping us celebrate carers in our regional communities.

💜 This National Carers Week, we’re celebrating the 3 million carers across Australia who provide unpaid care to their loved ones.

Carers provide invaluable yet unpaid support to people with neurological and other health conditions, often putting the needs of others before their own. This year’s National Carers Week theme, ‘Care for a Carer: Making Carers visible’, is an important reminder to recognise, value and support the people behind caring roles.

Throughout October, we invite you to join us in celebrating the special carer in your life or community at our NeuFriends support groups. We'll be treating them to a yummy morning tea and acknowledging the important place they hold in our communities. Everyone is welcome, and we'd love to see you there!

As a proud Telethon7 Perth beneficiary, The Neurological Council of WA team will be there next Sunday 18th October, with our NeuroKids and NeuroCare nurses ready to chat with parents and carers about the support and services available for children and families living with neurological conditions.

Be sure to stop by for plenty of fun, hands-on brain activities for the kids, and don't miss the chance to meet our brand new mascot for the very first time! 🎉

Stroke can happen to anyone, at any age. For Carrie-Anne, it changed everything overnight.

Once a busy chef, runner and mum, she is now navigating the challenges of life after a catastrophic stroke while holding onto hope for the future. Her powerful story is a reminder of the resilience it takes to rebuild life after neurological injury, and the impact that the right support can make.
