URGENT UPDATE!

A new case of meningococcal B has been reported in NSW, a male aged 20-24.
This now brings the total cases of meningococcal B in NSW to 13.

With the highest number of cases in the country of this preventable strain of meningococcal, this poses the questions, why isn't New South Wales protecting our children and young people? How many more cases are needed before NSW makes the vaccine FREE? On the 23rd of August Ashley will be running 14km in the Sydney Beach2Beach Marathon for her beautiful daughter Lana.

"What we thought was something minor quickly became every parent's worst nightmare. In a matter of hours, our lives changed forever". Ashley describes how she "had no idea how devastating meningitis could be or how quickly it could take hold". She hopes that in sharing Lana's story she will be able to raise awareness.

"because if it helps even one family recognize the signs sooner or understand the seriousness of this illness, then her story has made a difference."

The most recent case of Meningococcal in Western Australia, has been classified as Meningococcal B. This now marks the 13th case, 12 of which are Meningococcal B.

Meningococcal B is the most dominant type in Australia. Five states now provide vaccination coverage for babies and teens – why doesn't Western Australia recognise the importance? What makes our children less valuable than theirs?

Kate is running the 14km Sydney Beach2Beach marathon August 23 this year to raise awareness for Meningitis.
