They are not just falling behind the other states, but the world.

🌡️When 18-month old Kaya was refusing food and drink, and developed a fever, her mum Candice knew something was very wrong.
"My motherly instincts urged me to take her to the emergency room. I couldn't explain it, but something didn't feel right," Candice said.
📉By morning, Kaya's deterioration was fast.
"Kaya's guttural wails of pain had become a constant dirge, a heartbreaking sound that signalled something terribly wrong," Candice said.
🧠Kaya had Meningococcal B, and the fight for her life was on.
"At the hospital they started treating her without waiting for tests. Time was crucial and each minute seemed to matter."
A lumbar puncture confirmed the diagnosis, and IV antibiotics helped Kaya's tiny body battle Men B.
🏥She spent 9 days in hospital.
"When we were discharged, we essentially took home a 15-month newborn. She couldn't walk, talk or stand anymore."
👂Kaya also had severe damage to her hearing, and had a Cochlear Implant.
To Candice, it's unbelievable that the Men B vaccine is still not on all state immunisation programs. "I wish I had known," she said.
Unlike all other states, WA and NSW still does not provide Men B vaccination for free to protect their babies and teens - families still have to purchase it at great expense and 87% just cannot afford.
Men B protection shouldn't rely on your income or postcode, we need WA and NSW to act now against this devastating disease and stop gambling with kids lives!
