Another great turnout this week! Thank you everyone for joining in. Last night, we did a mix of longways and three couple sets - the Leaving of Liverpool, Captain Brisbane’s Frolic, Dover Pier, Well Hall, Juice of Barley, the Black Nag and Upon a Summer’s Day.

Learn how to dance English Country style!

Due to the interest of Perth Dancers wishing to learn ‘Advanced’ English Country Dances, we’re introducing a new session on the fifth Wednesday of the month - that will be three sessions this year on the 30th April, 30th July and 29th October - pop those dates in your calendar now.

This will not affect our regular ‘Beginners and Improvers’ social evenings on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month which is a great introduction to English Country Dancing. On an average evening, we learn several basic or intermediate dances and have a light supper half way through. Sometimes, we throw in an advanced dance as well.

Some of the advanced dances that we’re considering for the new sessions include Chelsea Reach, Spring Garden, Lull Me Beyond Thee and Argeers; however there are many other longways, square or circle sets to choose from. Perhaps you would like to make a suggestion?

Thank you to all the dancers and musicians who joined us last night for an evening of music and dancing 🎶 We did a mix of longways and square sets - Indian Queen, Oranges and Lemons, South Seas, the Leaving of Liverpool and a new dance by Peggy Roe called June’s Garden Party 🙂

Well, that was a fun evening! I hope you had as much fun as I did! Tonight we did a mix of basic and intermediate dances - Captain Brisbane’s Frolic, South Seas, Royal City Waltz, Well Hall, the Leaving of Liverpool and the Duke of Kent’s Waltz.

Due to the growing interest of Perth Dancers wishing to learn advanced English Country Dances; like Chelsea Reach, Spring Garden, Lull Me Beyond Thee or Argeers to name a few; we’re introducing a new session on the fifth Wednesday of the month - that will be three evenings this year on the 30th April, 30th July and 29th October at 7pm. Welcome Back Everyone! We had our first dance evening of the year last night and a merry time was had by all! Dances of the evening included Captain Brisbane’s Frolic, South Seas, Epping Forest, Hole in the Wall, Royal City Waltz and Childgrove 🎶

Good morning to all our dancers and musicians, we’ll be back from our summer hiatus with more English Country Dancing on the 12th February 2025.

The Rose and Wattle Dance Group, based in Perth, focus on the tradition of English Country Dancing and our main aim is to have fun. Dancing is, after all, a recreational activity and whilst we do take our dancing seriously, our primary aim is to socialise whilst learning dances from a bygone era.

On an average dance evening, we learn several dances in either longways, square or circle sets; where you not only dance with your partner, but with other people in the set. Each dance is prompted by a Caller and we have live music performed by some very talented musicians - our muso’s have as much fun as us dancers!

Wednesday 9th & 23rd April 2025

No experience or partners are required and we recommend casual dress with comfortable shoes suitable for dancing on a wooden floor.

Christmas is on its way, and so is the Rose & Wattle Dance Group Christmas Wind Up 🎄🎄🎄

Don your favourite festive attire and join us on Wednesday 11th December for an evening of Live Music, Food & Drink and English Country Dancing ❤️

Please can everyone bring a plate to share and your preferred summer beverage - eggnog, soft drink, wine, cocktails or whatever you like 🍹🍪🍷🍉🍻🍒🧃🥨🫐

This will be our last dance for the year. We’ll break for summer hiatus and resume dancing again In March 2025 💐
