A special part of our Western Rural Connect x Rural Women’s Day Long Lunch was hearing from the incredible women who generously shared their stories, experiences and perspectives with us.

Our keynote speaker, Jen McCutcheon, captivated the room with her story and her honest reflections on life, resilience, motherhood, farming and navigating some of life’s biggest challenges. Jen, thank you for trusting us with your story and for sharing it with such openness and authenticity.

We were also incredibly fortunate to be joined by Xan MacAlpine, Rachel Kerin and Katie O’Brien for our panel discussion. Each brought a different perspective to the conversation, sharing the highs, challenges and lessons that come with living, working and building a life in rural and regional communities.

There was laughter, tears, honesty, vulnerability and plenty for our guests to take away from the conversation.

To Jen, Xan, Rachel and Katie, thank you for giving your time, sharing your stories and helping make this year’s Rural Women’s Day such a memorable one. We are so grateful to have had you as part of it 🎤

Thank you to our WRC Board 🍋🍸

Events like Rural Women’s Day don’t just come together on the day. They’re the result of months of planning, meetings, phone calls, emails, ideas, problem-solving and plenty of hands-on work behind the scenes.

A huge thank you to our incredible Western Rural Connect Board for the time, energy and heart each of you contributed to making our 2026 Rural Women’s Day Long Lunch in Narromine such a success.

From securing sponsors and prizes, coordinating speakers and suppliers, promoting the event and selling tickets, through to setting up, welcoming guests, running the 100 Club and packing everything away at the end of the day, it was a true team effort.

We are incredibly lucky to have a group of people who generously volunteer their time to WRC and genuinely care about creating opportunities for connection across Western NSW. To our Board, thank you for showing up, pitching in and helping turn months of planning into such a special day for 100 rural and regional women. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Rural Women’s Day 2026 ✨

What a day.

On Saturday, 100 incredible women came together in Narromine for the Western Rural Connect x Rural Women’s Day Long Lunch, and we’re still on a high from what was such a special afternoon of connection, conversation and community.

From the moment the doors opened, the room was filled with exactly what Western Rural Connect is all about: people connecting, new friendships being formed, stories being shared and women from across Western NSW coming together.

A huge thank you to our keynote speaker, Jen McCutcheon, for sharing her story with such openness and honesty, and to our wonderful panel guests Xan MacAlpine, Rachel Kerin and Katie O’Brien for sharing their experiences, perspectives and plenty of laughs along the way.

Thank you also to every business and individual who contributed to the day, from sponsorship to donating prizes and attendee gifts to providing photography, content and support behind the scenes. It takes a community to bring an event like this together, and we are so grateful for ours.

One of the biggest highlights was our 100 Club fundraiser for Dollar for Dusty. Thanks to the generosity of everyone in the room and more than 20 incredible donated prizes, together we raised an amazing $1,500!

A special thank you to Jackie from Rural Women’s Bevy ™ | Rural Women’s Day Ltd for once again collaborating with Western Rural Connect to bring this event to life. This is our third year working alongside Jackie, and Rural Women’s Day has well and truly become a highlight on the WRC calendar each year.

And finally, thank you to every single person who bought a ticket, travelled to Narromine and joined us. You are the reason we do this.

Western Rural Connect is a not-for-profit organisation built around a simple purpose: connecting those who live in, work in and love Western NSW. Saturday was a pretty special reminder of just how powerful those connections can be.

Here’s to rural women, regional communities and many more opportunities to bring people together. 🥂

$1,500 raised for Dollar for Dusty! 💙

We are incredibly proud to share that our 100 Club fundraiser at the Western Rural Connect x Rural Women’s Day Ltd ™ Long Lunch raised an amazing $1,500 for Dollar for Dusty.

Our 100 Club featured 20 incredible prizes, all generously donated by businesses, organisations and individuals who jumped on board to support the fundraiser. From vouchers and experiences to beautiful products and packages, we were blown away by the generosity shown in helping us bring the fundraiser together.

On the day, our 100 guests got behind the cause, purchasing squares in the 100 club and creating plenty of excitement as the winning numbers were drawn and our lucky winners made their way to the prize table!

Every dollar raised has gone towards Dollar for Dusty, supporting 12-year-old Dusty’s incredible 540km walk from Warren to Canberra as he works towards raising $1 million for Little Wings and helping bring paediatric specialists closer to children and families living in rural and regional communities.

As a not-for-profit organisation, Western Rural Connect is passionate about creating opportunities for connection while also finding ways to give back to the communities we represent. To every person and business who donated one of our 20 prizes, everyone who purchased a square, and everyone who cheered along on the day, thank you.

Together, our Rural Women’s Day community turned a fun afternoon fundraiser into $1,500 for an incredible cause.

100 women. 20 donated prizes. $1,500 raised. One very special rural community.

Our 100 Club is Supporting Dollar for Dusty! 💛

This year, Western Rural Connect is proud to be donating the funds raised through our Rural Women’s Day 100 Club to an incredible cause, Dollar for Dusty!

Dusty is a 12-year-old boy from Warren, NSW, who has taken on an extraordinary challenge, walking 540km from Warren to Canberra with the goal of raising funds for Little Wings. Dusty’s mission is to help Little Wings fly more paediatricians to rural and regional communities, giving country kids greater access to the specialist healthcare they need, closer to home.

As a community that understands the challenges of living in rural and regional Australia, we couldn’t think of a more meaningful cause to support.

🎟️ How does the 100 club work?

We have numbered spots available for purchase on arrival, giving you the chance to win some fantastic prizes generously donated by our supporters! Simply purchase a number, and we’ll draw our lucky winners in Narromine next Saturday!

Every number purchased helps us raise funds for Dollar for Dusty and supports the important work of Little Wings.
