Two artists, two powerful exhibitions, and one freshly transformed gallery!

This week we've had the pleasure of welcoming Laura Sikes and Alexandra Marangelis as they installed their solo exhibitions across our Arts Space Gallery -and we couldn't be more excited to share them with you.

Join us this Saturday, 12–2pm, for the opening of:

Flesh in Bloom - Laura Sikes
Clandestine Qu**rs, Hidden in Plain Sight - Alexandra Marangelis

While each exhibition stands strongly on its own, together they create a fascinating conversation around the body, identity, and the natural and social environments that shape us.

Flesh in Bloom has been developed during Laura's Next Level Fellowship with Regional Arts WA. Alexandra's exhibition was programmed through our expanded visual arts program proudly supported by the WA Government.

Come along, and be among the first to experience these incredible new exhibitions.

Flesh in Bloom is a series of photographic and botanical works developed by Laura Sikes during her Next Level Fellowship with Regional Arts WA.

Combining studio photography, collage, and floral practice, Sikes layers botanical materials onto the body, creating images that exist between portraiture, arrangement, and abstraction. Through collection, arrangement, and re-photography, skin, petals, leaves, shadows, and landscape merge into richly textured compositions.

Developed in collaboration with models, Flesh in Bloom is an intimate exploration of materiality, process, and the relationship between human and natural forms.

----Clandestine Qu**rs, Hidden in Plain Sight----
📆June 6 – June 27

Through a series of contemporary oil paintings inspired by nineteenth-century portraiture and significant q***r spaces, this exhibition explores the history, symbolism, and lived experiences of q***r identity.
Blending historical references with personal perspectives, the works reflect themes of visibility, belonging, community, and self-expression. Thought-provoking and accessible, the exhibition invites reflection on q***r histories and experiences while celebrating identity and connection.
Come and experience this powerful and engaging exhibition!

We’re thrilled to share Regional Arts WA's recent article 'Cultivating Futures' about the Outback Prac program!

The article highlights the impact of the Outback Prac Program, which recently brought WAAPA student Lily Probert to Arts Narrogin for a regional placement experience. During her time here, Lily supported activities associated with the Mirabilis Collective project 'Her Sound, Her Story' - gaining first-hand experience of working in a regional arts organisation and fostering community connection through the arts.

As Lily shared, the placement was “one of the most rewarding and transformative experiences” of her studies to date.

A huge thank you to Regional Arts WA, WAAPA and all the partners supporting opportunities like this for emerging arts workers and regional communities alike.

Read the article here:

Arts and culture play a vital role in regional Western Australia; strengthening community connection, supporting local economies, and sustaining cultural knowledge across generations. Yet the workforce driving this impact remains largely invisible and is increasingly under strain. Regional arts orga...
