Quarter Midget Youth Speedway Project

Quarter Midget Youth Speedway Project Community based youth group encouraging and supporting the development of skills in self-reliance, responsible attitudes, teamwork and community spirit.

The Quarter Midget Youth Speedway Project (QMYSP) was established in 1998 with the assistance of several Government departments as an initiative for an early intervention programme for youth throughout the Narrogin region. This unique programme has had much success since that time and has now evolved into a self-funded community project that encourages and supports our youth to develop skills in s

elf-reliance, responsible attitudes, teamwork, community spirit and important driver education. Participation in the “QMYSP” involves learning how to maintain, drive and, ultimately, race a Quarter Midget Speedway car. This opportunity is open to all youth in our region, male or female, aged between 12 and 17. Participating in this programme requires parental commitment. Parents need to be able to attend all race meets and club activities with their child, and give them the support and assistance that is necessary for them to be successful and gain maximum benefit from their involvement in the Project. Although the Project predominately races at Narrogin Speedway, we do get
the opportunity to race at other tracks around the state of WA and to participate in the Quarter Midget State Titles. This gives the drivers and crew a chance to meet
and race against a variety of different competitors. As you would expect there is a strong focus on safety and responsible behaviour. The cars all feature full safety roll cages and driver restraints. Also each driver is provided with full safety gear including helmet, gloves, race suit and boots and is expected to participate in the following courses. First Aid
Fire and Safety
Drug and Alcohol awareness
As we are a self-funded project there is a requirement for fund raising to be able to properly maintain the cars and to ensure the best standard of safety equipment. These events vary from hay carting to tree planting and from sausage sizzles to car washes. These occasions are always fun and help develop team spirit and
camaraderie.

Congrats to all the drivers..
Was an amazing race meet and having some drivers attend their first state title, pretty sure to say we are all very proud of everyone’s efforts in great racing

Before racing began, all drivers stood together on the front straight for a one-minute silence to honour and remember Jeff Baker, Peter Kett, and Deb Van Den Bogert.

A powerful moment of respect for three valued members of our speedway family who will always be remembered.

Our thoughts remain with their families, friends, and everyone whose lives they touched. 🏁🖤

All ready for the state titleGood luck to everyone

Shire of Narrogin

We would like to acknowledge our local Shire of Narrogin in thanks for their continued support through the community chest grant. Last season we upgraded to the new helments and this season we will be able to purchase hydraulic brakes and new accelerator pedals which will be easier for our youth to use.

After the well earned rest and holidays we are ready for the state title.
Upgrading ensures longevity and safety while racing. This change over takes time and we still some cars waiting for the upgrade but with 8 drivers it’s hard to do it all when our team work full time.
We are very greatful to the continued support of the Shire of Narrogin as we couldn’t have done this without them.

Narrogin Revheads

We would like to acknowledge our local Rev Heads in thanks for their huge donation that we used to purchase new metal and build new frames to replace safety roll bar frames on the 8 cars. With the money we were able to successful rebuild one car and have another frame ready.

With the well earned rest and holidays over we are happy to share our new car with stickers and new frame ready to rebuild. Rebuilding safety roll bars ensure the youth drivers have longevity and safety while racing, as most of our cars are over 15 years old

This change over takes time to rebuild the new cars for the 8 drivers as it’s hard to do it all when our team work full time.
We are very greatful to the huge donation of Rev Heads as we couldn’t have done this without them.
