Foundation Learning Centre is a Neighbourhood House, Learn Local, RTO and Community based education and human services organisation based in Narre Warren, 38 kilometres south-east of Melbourne. Offering community courses for education and pleasure, we also have have Literacy Programs for people with Disabilities and those with English as an Alternative Language (in partnership with Chisholm Instit

ute) and a focus on Alternative Year 9 - 12 Education Programs for Youth students who are disengaged from the mainstream education system.

Today, members of the FLC team had the opportunity to visit our valued training partner, EcoSkills, and see firsthand the fantastic work being undertaken in the delivery of Certificate II in Conservation and Ecosystem Management.

EcoSkills operates a working plant nursery, providing students with valuable hands-on experience in a real-world environment where they can develop practical skills and apply their learning within the industry.

It was great to tour the facility, connect with the EcoSkills team, discuss student outcomes, and explore opportunities to continue strengthening our partnership.

Thank you to the EcoSkills team for their hospitality and ongoing commitment to providing quality training and supporting students to develop skills for sustainable environmental careers. 🌿

🌈 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝗟𝗖!🌈

As part of our recent Professional Development Day, our trainers, wellbeing team and leadership team had the privilege of participating in The Rainbow Effect, an inspiring session facilitated by Loretta Lloyd.

With more than 25 years of experience in education and supporting young people and families facing barriers to learning, Loretta shared practical insights and thought-provoking ideas that challenged us to think differently about how we engage and support our students.

Together, we explored topics including:
✨ Boundary setting
✨ Creating positive classroom environments
✨ Celebrating individuality
✨ Supporting one another as a team
✨ Delivering dynamic and engaging curriculum

The session sparked meaningful conversations about creating learning spaces where every student feels welcomed, supported and valued. It also encouraged us to reflect on how we can empower learners to take an active role in their own success.

At FLC, we are committed to continuous learning - not just for our students, but for our staff as well. Opportunities like these help us strengthen our practice and ensure we continue providing inclusive, engaging and supportive educational experiences for all.

CALD Pre-Accredited Educator (Maternity Leave Position)

Foundation Learning Centre has always been shaped by people - the learners who bring courage to their education, the families and schools who place their trust in us, and the partners who make our work possible.

From 1 July, we begin rolling out a refreshed 𝗙𝗟𝗖 logo across our communications.

This is not a change in who we are, but an evolution - a freshening of our identity that better reflects who we are today and how we are already known across our community, whilst staying true to the purpose that has guided us from the beginning.

Along with the shortening of our name to 𝗙𝗟𝗖, at the heart of this refresh is our new tagline: 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.

A simple, clear expression of what we do and what we stand for.

While our visual identity evolves, Foundation Learning Centre remains our legal name, and our mission remains unchanged: creating positive, welcoming learning environments that support people to realise their full potential.

You’ll begin to see this refresh reflected across our signage and digital presence over the coming months.

FLC is proud to be part of the inaugural VETDSS Summit today at Crown Conference Centre, bringing together school leaders, VET practitioners, careers teams and industry partners to explore how high-quality VET delivery can actively strengthen student wellbeing, increase engagement and create meaningful post-school pathways.

Not only do we have an amazing trade display highlighting some of our incredible VET programs, but our team are participating in discussion panels, helping drive the running of the day and delivering high quality workshops to participants.

Over the past three weeks, our RISE Peninsula students have been rolling up their sleeves every Thursday morning alongside Joelene from Project Fresh Start 🍽️💚

Together, they’ve been preparing, cooking and packing meals to support some of the most vulnerable members of our community - helping to ensure more rough sleepers have access to nourishing food.

This ongoing initiative is more than just a weekly activity, it’s a powerful opportunity for students to build practical skills, connect with community, and make a real difference.

Project Fresh Start also continues to support our Peninsula Campus by stocking a fridge with fresh, healthy plant-based meals. This resource is available to students and their families, helping to ease pressure and keep food on the table during challenging times.

We’re incredibly proud of our students for the care, commitment and compassion they bring to this work each week 💛
