Sustenance does not need to be perfect.
A fast, comforting breakfast may still be mindfully made.

This Malaysian breakfast reminds me of kopitiams in KL. Shop uncles chatting, reading the newspaper and smoking ci******es.

Teh Tarik (powdered 3-in-1, no shame, all love), runny eggs made in the microwave, thick toast spread with butter and rich, sweet Kaya.

Reading:
"I like to walk alone on country paths, rice plants and wild grasses on both sides, putting each foot down on the earth in mindfulness, knowing that I walk on the wondrous earth. In such moments, existence is a miraculous and mysterious reality.

People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth.

Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child--our own two eyes. All is a miracle."

To those who came, Thank you for your trust.
To thank you for your energy, sound and space.

May we rest in compassion for ourselves, may we share that compassion with those we know, may we extend that compassion to those we do not.

Thank you for sharing this interconnectedness.

Mindful eating.

Season and place. Autumn leaves and Camelia flowers. An old yoga mat on grass.

Each tiny dried wagashi (Japanese sweet), a motif of nature.

We eat with our eyes first.

We touch, notice colour, shape.

Taste and texture. First without tea. Then with.

A small pause.

Sunlight.

Breeze.

Delight.

The box is not finished. Finding that place of satisfaction - of what is enough. The rest is kept for another time.

Mindfulness may be found in daily activities. Eating..walking.. cleaning. In Chan/ Zen Buddhism, allowing the mind to rest in these humble activities may be a form of meditation.

What you eat is not important. It may not be these sweets. It may be a pea. A grain of rice. A piece of cheese. Just try. A few seconds. Slowly. Mindfully. 🙏

Sweets from Chiyonoya Takemura, Nara, Japan. 320-year old confectionary store. A Nara business with 16th generation owners, friendly staff and delectable sweets. Thank you for your beautiful work.

"Kikiyama Shukei Sanuki Wasanbonto sugar is a pure Japanese white sugar that was created during the Kansei era (1788-1801) by Kikiyama Shukei of Sanuki Province (Kagawa Prefecture) by applying the sake pressing method. It is still made today using the same traditional methods.

At our company, we have created dried confectionery using Sanuki Wasanbonto sugar so that many people can enjoy the original deliciousness, flavor, and unique melt-in-your-mouth texture of the sugar. Please savor this Japanese tradition and the skill of our craftsmen."

In collaboration with Yoga Within Sound & Vibrations:

A sensory reminder that the simplest act may become a ritual of self-care.

Be guided through the portal of mindful movements where the five senses awaken in presence: sight, smell, sound, touch and taste.

The sound of water, the soft singing of Nepalese bowls.
The fragrance of the leaf as it evolves and blossoms.
The warmth of the cup, held in caring hands.
The colour and clarity of the brew.

Might the flavour change with a calm and clear mind.
Might you simply sit, and feel?

Where the mundane may be magical, where the act of brewing may bring deep grounding.

This is an invitation for those who might enjoy a slow ceremony of calm.

Truly being in the moment of the world of tea.

What to expect:

A guided visualisation meditation to bring calm presence within you and the space around you.

Curated, carefully chosen, aged teas that are matched with the Season and weather.

A silent meditation through the ritual of Gong Fu Cha, a seated meditation on the floor supported by gentle singing bowls from Nepal.

Sharing tea is an act of community which is so important to Po-Tien at The Mindful Cup & Susan at Yoga Within.

As the tea starts to flow, the group may come out of silence, to share, to ask and to join.
