Forever Held was established in 2022 to support bereaved parents through the provision of short-term retreat accommodation at no cost. Built in natural surrounds, the retreat offers grieving parents a place of refuge and rest. We invite you to come, stay, grieve, rest, and experience nature as you take the next step on your healing journey. Forever Held was created for parents and families who hav

e experienced the death of a child. Whether through miscarriage, stillbirth, medical termination, infant death, illness or accident, we understand that the social, emotional and financial impact can be significant. Our retreat is situated in Victoria’s scenic south-west, conveniently located 15 minutes east of Warrnambool and in close proximity to the Great Ocean Road. The fully furnished cabin is suitable for couples and families with up to two children. Our charity was founded to help parents grieve the loss of a child by a short stay at our picturesque retreat at no cost. Our goal is to make space for grief.

What does it mean to have the space to grieve?

As Sheree's story reflects, finding space to grieve can be incredibly difficult amidst the demands of everyday life, yet having that space can make a profound difference.

At Forever Held, we're committed to creating opportunities for families to find a place of rest and refuge. Our retreat is surrounded by nature, away from the constant noise and distractions of everyday life.

This EOFY, we're raising funds to help ensure these opportunities remain accessible to bereaved families. Community support helps us continue providing retreats, remembrance experiences and connection, so that grieving parents can find the space to slow down, breathe, and remember their child.

Today marks the start of our EOFY Appeal.

At Forever Held, we welcome parents and families navigating the heartbreak of losing a child. Our retreat offers time away from the demands of everyday life—a chance to slow down, reflect, and feel supported.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, these retreat stays are provided at no cost to families.

~ Bereaved Mother’s Day ~

Today, we hold space for the mothers whose arms ache, whose hearts carry both deep love and deep grief.

At Forever Held, we know that motherhood does not end with loss - it changes. It becomes quieter, heavier, and often unseen. But it is no less real. Your child was here. Your child is loved. And you are, and always will be, their mother.

We exist to create space for that grief - to honour it, not rush it. To offer a place where parents can step away from the noise of the world and simply be… to remember, to rest, and to feel held in their loss.

Today, and every day, we stand beside bereaved mothers. We see you. We remember your children with you. And we honour the enduring love that will always exist between you.

Today is Say Their Name Day, a gentle reminder that even the smallest lives leave the deepest marks.

We say their names to honour them, to remember them, to remind the world they were here, and they are forever loved.

This week marks a significant milestone for our foundation — three years since we welcomed the very first family, grieving the unimaginable loss of their child, into our retreat.

Life is made up of moments, not just milestones, and it’s the countless moments of kindness, generosity, and love that have made this milestone possible. Because of you — our compassionate community — 233 families have been able to find rest, care, and space to grieve in the darkest seasons of their lives.

Thank you to every person who has donated, supported, volunteered, or given in any way. Your heartfelt generosity continues to wrap around parents and families who so bravely walk through our doors.

And for each precious child who is forever held in our hearts - you are, and always will be, deeply loved.

Join us at the Fresh Market in Warrnambool this Sunday from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM! We will have beautiful handmade yo-yos created by Yo-Dough Hamper Co. in support of the Forever Held Foundation. Throughout November, Yo-Dough is generously donating $7 from the sale of each box of yo-yos to our foundation. Come and buy a box and help us to create space to grieve for those who have experienced the heartache of child loss.
