Our little Mallee butterfly is a finalist in the 2026 ABC Australian Insect of the Year! 🦋

It has the best story. The Mallee Bronze Azure has no food plant. Its caterpillars trick Sugar Ants into raising them underground… and eat the ant babies while they're at it. Diabolical? Yes. Worth your vote? Also yes!

We look after the largest known population at Raakajilm, on Latji Latji Country next to Hattah-Kulkyne National Park. Floods in 2022, then a bushfire in 2026, this butterfly needs all the friends it can get. Could be the only threatened species that can be helped by weeing in the bush!

The Farmers Cup is all about bringing together our locals, farmers, businesses, mates and community for good bowls, plenty of laughs and some friendly competition.

Whether you’re a Farmers Cup regular or keen to get a team together for the first time, we’d love to have you involved. 🙌

I have a pigeon hanging around for the last 2 days. It does have an aqua band on the left leg and maybe black on the right.
It’s happy to let our dog near it (he grew up with chicks and ducklings so isn’t aggressive with it)
If I go near it, it will just fly off a few metres low to the ground.
It’s in good condition so a much loved bird I would think

🎬🍿 A HUGE THANK YOU FROM US! ❤️

A massive thank you to everyone who came along to our Annual Community Movie Night to kick-start the September school holidays! 🎥✨

Whether you came along to lend a hand, enjoy a feed, watch the movie, bring the kids, or simply catch up with friends and locals — we are so grateful you chose to spend the evening with us. 🥰

A special thank you to our CFA and SES crews for coming along and providing some extra entertainment for the kids! 🚒🧑‍🚒❤️ The smiles, excitement and curious little faces made it even more special!

Thank you to Jesse and The Parle Brothers for the amazing sound system it made a huge difference to the quality of the night!

And of course, a huge thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and helped make the night happen. Events like this truly take a community, and we are so lucky to have so many wonderful people who are always willing to pitch in. 🙌

We absolutely love our community and seeing everyone come together, have a laugh, share a meal, enjoy a movie and simply catch up with the locals we love is exactly what these events are all about. 🫶
