Becoming U Strengthening communities in Nambucca Valley and Toormina so that young people can thrive. We are currently running programs in Nambucca Valley and Toormina.

Becoming U empowers our young people aged 8-18 to unleash their potential and use it to thrive. We work side-by-side with youth in the Nambucca Valley and Toormina and those important to them, designing together innovative and sustainable projects that create connection, well-being, and life-changing opportunities. Becoming U operates unique programs that aim to build belief and capacity so that o

ur young people become work-ready, mentally and physically healthy, and connected to opportunities as well as communities. Becoming U is proudly supported by Uniting NSW.ACT under their Firefly program, part of the Future Horizons initiative, but stands alone as a youth program. Becoming U may not reflect Uniting as a brand. Future Horizons is a Uniting strategy to articulate our 10-year vision for a more inclusive, connected and just world. It focuses on the locations and communities with the greatest need and highest potential to reverse entrenched cycles of disadvantage. Becoming U and Uniting NSW.ACT are committed to respecting children and take action to keep them safe. We take the well-being and safety of children very seriously. Protecting children is at the heart of everything we do – at work, at home and in the community. We don’t tolerate disrespect towards children and act immediately to prevent abuse. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of this land, the Gumbaynggirr people, and the continuing sovereignty and rich cultural diversity of Australia’s First Peoples. We pay our respects to all Elders – past, present, and emerging – and to all First Peoples on whose lands we live and work. We are committed to respecting children and take action to keep them safe. A huge thank you to Jane MacSmith - Nambucca Valley Councillor for championing and supporting the Nambucca Valley Youth Council’s Youth Hub at the recent nambuccavalleycouncil meeting.
We’re incredibly grateful to be part of a community that values young people and recognises the importance of creating spaces where they can connect, grow and thrive. Strong community support and strong youth voices are what make meaningful, place-based youth work possible. 🙌🏻

At last Youth Council meeting, they highlighted wanting more art workshops, so we have Micayla from Bellingen Neighbourhood Centre running a free Cyanotype printing workshop at next weeks Youth Hub (Wednesday 3rd) 4pm-5pm
Youth hub will still run alongside this on the day, so if art is not your thing, no worries
