💜 Happy Father’s Day 💜

Today we celebrate all the dads, grandads, stepdads, uncles, carers, father figures and role models who give their time, love, and guidance. Thank you for the big lessons, the little moments, and everything in between.

We also take a moment to honour and remember the fathers and loved ones who are no longer with us, but whose love and influence live on in our hearts. 💐

From all of us at P2P, we wish you a Father’s Day filled with love, gratitude, and special memories. 💜

A wonderful morning at Nambour Special School Expo!

Beth and Jill loved connecting with families today and having conversations about what life beyond school can look like - and the different ways Parent to Parent Qld can be there along the way.

From our peer groups and programs to PATH sessions and Plan Management, P2P is here to help people and families build connections, explore possibilities and feel supported through the next chapter.

A big thank you to Nambour Special School for having us, and to every family who stopped by for a chat. It was so lovely to meet you! 💚

Happy Wear It Purple® Day! 💜

On the last Friday in August, we celebrate Wear It Purple® Day. It’s a national day to show support for LGBTQIA+ youth by proudly wearing purple. 🌈

Today is a chance for us all to listen to and learn what LGBTQIA+ youth need to thrive, and to action them in our lives.

How can you get involved today:
💜 Wear purple! Share the purple with us by tagging us in your photos.
💜 Learn what support LGBTQIA+ youth want and see how you can help (you can check out our videos and website to get started).
💜 Have meaningful conversations about LGBTQIA+ inclusion with those around you.
💜 Let the young LGBTQIA+ people in your life know you proudly support them!

Your visibility and support help create safe, inclusive spaces for q***r youth everywhere.

🎬 SPEAKER SPOTLIGHT: DIANNA LA GRASSA | BUS STOP FILMS

We’re excited to welcome Dianna La Grassa, Chief Operating Officer and Head of Screen at Bus Stop Films, to the Loud and Clear Qld Conference this October!

A proud disabled woman, Dianna has more than 15 years’ experience in education, holds an MBA and is a NIDA-trained actress. As Bus Stop Films’ resident Producer, she has helped bring more than 100 film projects to life, while playing an important role in creating pathways for people with disability to build skills, gain experience and pursue careers in the screen industry.

Through Bus Stop Films’ Accessible Filmmaking Program, Dianna has seen firsthand what can happen when people are given genuine opportunities to explore their creativity, develop real-world skills and be part of an industry they are passionate about.

At Loud and Clear Qld, Dianna will host Lights, Camera, Belonging!, bringing together a panel of film and creative industry experts who will share real stories, career pathways and opportunities for people with disability in film, acting and the creative arts.

We can’t wait to have Dianna and Bus Stop Films joining us!

Hervey Bay Peer Group is back, and we’d love to see you there! 💚💜

Join us for a relaxed watercolour session by the bay - a chance to connect, get creative and enjoy some time together in a welcoming space.

We’ll also be joined by a special guest speaker from the Mental Health Disaster Recovery Team, who will chat with us about resilience, health and wellbeing in our community.

Everyone is welcome - people with disability, their families, supporters and new faces.
Plus, a light lunch will be provided.

Amplifying Voices at Speak Up with Confidence! 🌟

Our P2P facilitators Payge and Kim recently led a self-advocacy workshop for NDIS participants.

The event was a fantastic success, with participants actively sharing their lived experiences, ideas and perspectives. Throughout the day, attendees gained valuable knowledge on:

-Understanding their rights and the NDIS Code of Conduct
- What to expect from their support workers
- Practical tools for speaking up with confidence
- How to help shape systems and processes that champion the rights of people with intellectual disability
