Our Story

Glen Osmond Scout Group has been training youth in life-enriching skills for over 100 years. The group is one of the oldest Scout Groups in the world established in 1907 and the current hall in Ridge Park was built in 1967. Scouting is a worldwide, national and local community organisation, which has as its primary function, the positive development and well-being of young people.

Scouts is all about learning skills for life whilst having fun. We take part in a wide range of activities in our weekly meetings, from cooking and construction to rescues and first aid. The program is designed by the youth under guidance and is based on an award (badge) scheme, which allows Scouts to have a go at lots of different activities. Leaders aim to teach real life skills so your child can become confident and reliable.

Many activities are away from the hall and we usually have one or two camps, hikes or weekend activities each term. It’s at camps where real learning begins and life friendships are formed.

Scout Youth Development focuses on six areas of personal growth using the acronym. SPICES: The SOCIAL, PHYSICAL, INTELLECTUAL, CHARACTER, EMOTIONAL and SPIRITUAL development. SPICES is applied in balance to all planning and programs.
