Mutchilba State School was established in 1939 with 9 students. Mutchilba is a local Aboriginal word for "Big Dead Tree".

Mutchilba is situated in the rural shire of Mareeba, the school is approximately 34km south-west of the Mareeba township.

🍽️💙 OUR COMMUNITY DINNER IS ALMOST HERE! 💙🍽️
The countdown is on! 🎉 This Friday, 4 September, we’re bringing our Mutchilba school community together for a wonderful evening of good food, good company and lots of fun!
👩‍🍳Our students have been busy! They’ve been getting creative in the kitchen, making delicious homemade treats and putting together our lolly bags, which will be available to purchase on the night! 🍭🍬😋
🍴 ON THE MENU:
❤️ Pork adobo with fluffy rice
❤️ Homemade chicken kebabs
❤️ BBQ sausages
❤️ Garden salad, coleslaw & roast veggies
❤️ Apple slice with mango ice cream OR icecream cones for the kids🍨

🌱🔬 SCIENCE WEEK AT MUTCHILBA STATE SCHOOL! 🔬🌱
A huge THANK YOU to Samantha from Dimbulah State School for coming along to Mutchilba State School during Science Week and engaging our students in a wonderful hands-on science experience! 💚🧪✨
Our students loved getting creative, exploring and discovering as they made their very own planetariums 🪐🌎✨ and caterpillars 🐛🌿 — creations they can take home and enjoy!
This year’s Science Week theme, “Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All” 🌱🔬, reminds us that science begins with curiosity, wonder and a willingness to explore. Just like planting a seed, every new question, discovery and learning experience helps grow our knowledge. 🌱➡️🌿➡️🌳
Thank you for sharing your time, knowledge and enthusiasm with us, Samantha! We had a fantastic time learning, creating and having fun with science. 🥰🔬🐛🪐

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming **Shane Knuth** to Mutchilba State School to see our prize-winning gardens and celebrate the wonderful work happening in our school garden! 🥕🌻🍅

Shane has generously supported our **School Garden Project**, and we are incredibly grateful for his contribution. His generosity will help us continue to grow, learn and create a garden that our students can enjoy for years to come. 🌱👩‍🌾👨‍🌾

🥈🌿 We're thrilled to share some exciting news! 🌿🥈
Mutchilba State School has proudly been awarded 🥈 2nd Place in the School Garden Category at the 2026 Mareeba & District Lions Garden Awards! 🎉
A huge congratulations to all of the garden award entrants for showcasing the beauty of our region and thank you to the judges who generously gave their time to visit every garden. 👏 We also sincerely appreciate the many local businesses that donated prizes to celebrate the efforts of participants.
💙 A special thank you to the Mareeba Lions Club and the dedicated coordinators who organised such a wonderful awards program and celebration evening. Your commitment to serving our community and supporting initiatives like these is truly appreciated.
🌱 Right now we have an amazing range of produce including sweet potato, pumpkin, corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchinis, beans, lettuce, capsicum, eggplant, squash, radishes, garlic, spring onions, passionfruit and granadilla, along with a wonderful collection of fresh herbs.

🌿✨ A Week Full of Learning, Creativity and Connection ✨🌿At Mutchilba State School, we believe learning is about more than what happens in a classroom — it is about connecting, creating, celebrating and discovering the world around us. 💚💛🌟
👩‍🍳 Cooking up a storm —We made delicious Brazilian Cheese Bread using our brand new mixer generously bought for us by our P and C🧀🥖. We are developing our cooking skills while discovering new flavours and traditions.
🎾 Learning new skills on the court — We have been building confidence, coordination and teamwork through tennis coaching. 🎾👏
💃 Moving to the rhythm — We are embracing culture and creativity for different stories, music and traditions. 🌏✨
🪃 NAIDOC Week -We celebrated NAIDOC Week by creating beautiful artwork and basket weaving, developing patience, creativity and respect for cultural practices. 🌿
