Murwillumbah Evening Branch of CWA attended the Far North Coast Group Land Cookery/Craft day. Two of our members Brenda and Sheryl attended and took over our cooking entries, branch craft project & recycled items. Sheryl is seen in photo with some of our winning entries.

Congratulations to those who came first in the cooking sections. Thanks to those who made a recycled item and the members that participated in the branch craft item of food/plate making. It almost looked good enough to eat.

The cookery winners will now have to cook again so their entry can go to State Conference. That's so great for our branch.

Murwillumbah Evening branch of CWA members Michelle, Marie & Kathie participated in this years AM Rotary march against family and Domestic Violence. The march starts at Knox Park and goes around the main town centre and over to the Tweed Shire Council Civic Centre then back to Knox Park. Purple is the DV colour so we adorn some purple attire to be seen and heard along with members of the community and AM Rotary. This is one of the best things we do all year and if making people aware they can say no to domestic violence helps save lives then we have achieved a good outcome.

Murwillumbah Evening Branch of CWA recently gave out 2 more donations to worthy organisations in our community. The Buttery (Safe Haven) & RiverTracks. . The Buttery supports mental health and well being of our local Community. RiverTracks works with young boys and girls 12 and above running various programs to engage with them in long term programs and offer practical skills. Both organisations do great work in the community and our members were only too willing to make the donations.

Julie Toussaint from The Buttery (Safe Haven) and Guy Niemack from RiverTracks came along to the cheque presentation. Sandra (Secretary) along with members Marisa and Kathie were on hand to help with the presentation. It is a very rewarding feeling handing over donations that will be put to good use.

Yesterday Murwillumbah Evening Branch of CWA catered for the 50th Anniversary gathering of the Murwillumbah Garden Club at the beautiful old Jessie McMillian hall in town. Members Bronwyn, Linda, Sharon, Marie & Marisa made lovely scones, cakes, sandwiches and slices that were provided on the day. Marisa could not be there on the morning but the rest of the members tirelessly worked and provided a scrumptious array of goodies.

Thanks all for helping out with either cooking and/or working on the day. Looks like a very successful event. Happy 50th Anniversary to the Garden Club.

Murwillumbah Evening Branch of the CWA volunteered at the Murwillumbah show put on by the Tweed River Agricultural society this year. Our members were the stewards for art/craft/needlework/cooking and preserves sections of the show. Our fearless leader Linda (President) has been involved with shows for many years and was great as our head steward for our sections. Linda's experience was most helpful. Other members have also worked at shows over the years and had great experience.

Our members worked tirelessly for about 2 weeks leading up to the the main days in the pavilion plus doing paperwork after hours at home. The main days we were accepting entries, assisting with paperwork and being the runners/scribes for the judges. It was hard work but fun. The show committee members were great helpers for us including Jade and Bec.

The Craft, Needlework, Cooking, and Preserves Judges were CWA accredited Show Judges. The Art was judged by a qualified Artist. The entries from locals in all categories were great. Loved the kids entries in Art, craft and cooking.

All entries were de-identified for judging.

The quality of all entries was excellent. We encouraged our members to enter various categories and Marlene, Jan, Linda & Kathie did and were successful in craft/crochet and preserves sections. Another member Marisa entered her CWA Rose in the flower section and won Grand Champion of the show. Great honour for Marisa and the CWA Rose.

We would love to see more locals enter next year as the show is such a fun thing to be involved with. At the end of the Friday setup we all headed over to the members area to have a much needed drink and wind down. Thank you show committee for asking us to be involved it was a most rewarding experience.

Murwillumbah Evening Branch of CWA recently held their AGM. Guest Speakers from Cycling without Age Burringbar Keiran (Secretary) & Maxine (Pilot) attended to explain all about what they do and accept a donation from our branch. We were privileged to present them with our donation for all the good work they do providing rides to people.

After that we held our AGM meeting and most positions were filled. Our committee of Linda (President) Sandra (Secretary) & Michelle (Treasurer but not present at the meeting) were all re elected. Congratulations to all those who took on a position. Onwards and upwards we go. Linda was presented with the Far North Coast Cultural Trophy as our branch won that at the Far North Coast AGM. We also bought our International day doll back from that AGM.

At the Group AGM Kathie accepted the Cultural award on behalf of the branch. Our skit won. Lets go bigger and better next year. Thank you to the ladies that participated and to Brenda for coming up with a fun skit.
