Where to find Bhakti Shala and get your kirtan fix this September!
Due to these other wonderful events happening this month, we won’t be holding our regular monthly kirtan at Free Flow Yoga & Health, although we did make up for it with 3 kirtans in August!
And there is definitely no shortage of kirtan! We’ll be participating in three wonderful celebrations over the coming weeks, and we would love to see some familiar Bhakti Shala faces joining us.
🌸 This weekend: Krishna’s Birthday at the Krishna Farm
This weekend is one of the biggest celebrations of the year for Bhakti Yogis across the globe, and at the Krishna Farm in Eungella: Krishna’s Birthday, Janmashtami.
If you have never experienced Janmashtami at the Farm before, it really is something special.
There will be children’s plays, a special swing festival, bathing of the Deities, celebrations, feasting and, most importantly for us, hours and hours of kirtan.
The kirtan and celebrations continue right through the evening as we stay up together until midnight for the beautiful and intimate darshan celebrating Krishna’s appearance, followed by a feast at 1am.
And it doesn’t finish there!
We’ll be back again later that morning from 10AM for another very special celebration, the birthday of Srila Prabhupada, founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
There will be more kirtan, offerings and celebrations throughout the morning, culminating in what may well be the biggest feast of the year at 1PM.
Everyone is welcome to come and be a part of it.
✨ Sunday 13 September: Krishna’s Birthday Festival on the Gold Coast
The following weekend, we’re heading north to join our friends at Kirtan Gold Coast for another beautiful celebration of Krishna’s Birthday.
Bhakti Shala will be joining the kirtan at:
Krishna’s Birthday Festival, Janmashtami
📅 Sunday 13 September 2026
⏰ 3:30pm to 6:30pm
📍 Burleigh Waters Community Hall, Christine Ave, Burleigh Waters
💛 FREE ENTRY
The afternoon will include live immersive kirtan, a Flower Festival, Krishna Swing Festival, an inspiring introduction to Krishna’s pastimes and yoga wisdom, books and gifts, and a huge complimentary vegetarian feast catered by the wonderful Govindas Burleigh Heads.
It is completely family friendly, open to everyone and there is no need to register or RSVP. Simply come along on the day.
Please see the attached flyer for more information.
🎶 Coming in October: Shravanam Kirtanam
And then there is the big one!
We’ll send out a separate announcement about Shravanam Kirtanam very soon because this incredible gathering deserves an announcement all of its own.
Held over four days during the first long weekend of October at the Krishna Farm in Eungella, Shravanam Kirtanam brings together kirtan lovers from all over Australia for what we all feel is the biggest and most beautiful kirtan retreat in the Southern Hemisphere.
It is an opportunity to move beyond our usual few hours of kirtan and really immerse ourselves in hearing, chanting and going deeper into the Holy Names. There will be deep meditative kirtans, ones that pull on the heart strings and bring tears to your eyes, there will be fired up kirtans that make you dance in bliss, and everything in between.
Best of all, the entire festival is free, open to everyone, and meals are included.
There will be a kids tent as well (for a small fee) where your kids can be entertained while you immerse yourself in the nectar of the sacred sounds without distraction.

So although there won’t be a regular Bhakti Shala evening at Free Flow this September, there are plenty of opportunities for us to gather, sing and share kirtan together.
We hope to see you at one, two, or perhaps all three. 🙏
And then we will be back at Free Flow on the 10th of October to resume our regular programming.
With love,
Bhakti Shala
