Murdoch University Livestock Interest Group Welcome to the Murdoch Large Animal Interest group (LIG)

LIG is run by passionate students in Veterinary Science, Animal Science and Animal Health.

We provide opportunities for students to gain skills, knowledge, and experience in large animal practice. LIG is an group run by dedicated and passionate students in Veterinary Science, Animal Science and Animal Health. Our aim is to provide extracurricular opportunities for students to gain and improve skills, knowledge, and experience in livestock medicine, production, and rural practice. Our ev

ents include lectures, seminars, practical workshops that are hands on with large animals, and industry tours/visits throughout the year. The opportunities are open to all student members as well as the staff and faculty.

On Thursday the 12th of March at 5:00pm The 'World Without Cows' documentary commissioned by Alltech will be shown at Murdoch University.

This documentary is aimed at showing the role of cattle in our society and challenging some common misconceptions about the industry. Come down grab a bite to eat, mingle with like-minded individuals and enjoy the documentary!

This is for everyone interested or not, in the industry. It is a good way to learn about the industry and make some connections.

🐄 Livestock Euthanasia Training Course : Thursday 13th November 2025

Impetus Animal Welfare is offering students an opportunity to take part in a hands-on euthanasia training course on November 13th at Muresk Institute

This program is designed for anyone working with livestock, who want to build confidence, knowledge, and skill in humane euthanasia practices.

✅ Develop practical, hands-on skills in the safe use of captive bolt devices
