🔥 🚒BUSHFIRE DANGER PERIOD STARTS TOMORROW 🚒🔥
From 1 October 2026, the Bush Fire Danger Period officially begins and will run through to 31 March 2027.

🚨 FIRE PERMITS ARE NOW REQUIRED 🚨

If you’re planning to light a fire during the Bush Fire Danger Period, make sure you have the appropriate permit before you burn.

☑️ Fire permits are FREE.
☑️ Check the conditions before lighting any fire.
☑️ Never leave a fire unattended.
☑️ Make sure your fire is completely extinguished before leaving it.

The Fire Danger Index is forecast to be HIGH, The fire danger rating for tomorrow in the Greater Hunter which affects the council areas of: Cessnock, Dungog, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Muswellbrook, Newcastle, Port Stephens, Singleton, Upper Hunter

This means:

Be ready to act.

There’s a heightened risk, Be alert for fires in your area.

Decide what you will do if a fire starts.

If a fire starts, your life and property may be at risk. The safest option is to avoid bush fire risk areas.

🔥 Heavy fines and penalties can apply for the unsafe use of fire or if your fire escapes and causes damage.

Safe burning is everyone’s responsibility. Don’t become a fire risk to your family, your neighbours or your community.

Get Ready Day for 2026 was at Bandon Grove Hall. We joined them to celebrate their Community Hub. A great day of sharing information and community Liaison. RFS and SES Dungog talked about Preparedness and the assistance we can provide to our community. Bandon Grove has recently installed a Defibrillator, so they used this opportunity to show everyone how to use it.
The scones and sausage sizzle were delicious!

Bendolba/Salisbury Brigade will be at the Bandon Grove Hall this Sunday as part of their Community Day. We will be there from 10am till 3pm.
Please come along and join in the fun. Each year we have a Get Ready Day where members of our Bendolba/Salisbury Brigade are able to show you our truck and equipment, to use a fire hose and to share information about being prepared for a fire. We look forward to seeing you all.

Today we were called to a fire at Quartpot. Bendolba 7 & 9, Gresford, Vacy, Dungog, Eccleston and Wallarobba attended. A great team effort to support a local property owner. Hot and smoky day, hoping for some rain overnight.

Another great training day for Group 4, Lower Hunter held in Dungog. Members taking the opportunity to learn and refresh skills using our MDT’s and fire mapper. Clarence Town brought their pumper and showed us its impressive capabilities along with a quick demonstration of where equipment is found on the truck.
Our mission/scenario was to provide water from a hydrant via trucks to the pumper.
We thank Dungog Brigade for hosting, and Andy, Alex and Shaun for organising the day.
We all enjoyed a wonderful BBQ lunch to end the day’s activities.

Last night members of Bendolba met at Clarence Town Station for an interagency training evening. The wet weather put a bit of a dampener on the original training plan but as usual a quick reset. Alex shared heaps of information regarding aviation awareness along with sharing a power point presentation. We then let off some flares as part of the practical side of the exercise. The bbq and slices were an added bonus. Thanks again for a really informative evening.
