📣 Board Member Highlight | Meet Laura Maeyke
Burnett Delegate 🍊
From pavilion entries as a little girl to helping shape the future of Queensland agricultural shows, Laura Maeyke’s story is deeply woven into the fabric of her community.
Born and raised in Mundubbera, proudly known as the citrus capital of Queensland, Laura has been part of the local show movement her whole life, growing up alongside her parents as they held various roles within the show society.
But for Laura, the local show has always been more than an event.
It’s where community comes together.
Always willing to put up her hand and lend support where it’s needed, Laura has:
• Served as Secretary of the Mundubbera Show Society across five terms
• Supported the Burnett Sub-Chamber as Secretary and Delegate
• Stepped into her third term on the Queensland Ag Shows Board
• Helped coordinate trade sites and entertainment for her local show
• Represented the NextGen voice within leadership discussions across the state
• Contributed to the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee, helping shape a strong and sustainable future for Queensland Ag Shows
Laura is passionate about creating opportunities for the next generation while preserving the traditions that make regional shows so important.
From horse events and prime cattle to pavilion displays filled with cookery, craft, art and children’s entries, she believes every section plays a role in keeping communities connected.
🌾 For Laura, agricultural shows are about more than competition.
They’re places where people feel a sense of belonging, where skills are shared across generations, and where regional Queensland comes together to celebrate what makes each community unique.
🧠 As a leader, Laura brings energy, heart and a strong sense of purpose.
A future focused on connection.
A commitment to community.
And a deep belief in the power of agricultural shows to inspire the next generation.
