AJ Strydom is the Player of the Week!
In a game that was reduced to 25 overs due to the heat be 41*c, it was set up perfectly for AJ's playstyle.
Bowling first, AJ was by far the standout performer for the team, taking the top 3 batsman's wickets, as well as a late one to finish with 4. AJ was also very economical, going for only 4.60 an over, in an innings where they went 7.08 an over.
In response, AJ came out at #3, and got off to a flying start, hitting his first ball for 6.
AJ went on to hit another 6 and two 4s on his way too 35 off 28 balls.
Playing 8 games in his first season, AJ has really showed how much of a massive asset he is to the club, and finishing the season with another player of the week reinforces this.

B Grade:
Back to regular programming as we lost the toss and had to field first again. In a shorter 25 over match, and missing some regular players there were order changes. AJ opened the bowling and got us 2 early wickets, while they made quick runs to be 2/39 off 4. The game was then taken away from us as their opener and #4 made big scores, hitting 7 6s between them before the partnership was broken at 3/117. Their opener piled on the pressure as the ended up with a great score of 177 off 25.
In reply, we got off to an okay start but struggled to accelerate the runrate until AJ came in for a quick cameo to put us back in the game. Unfortunately after AJ and Choc were dismissed, there was still plenty of runs to get, as we fell 40 short, ending the season 3 and 14 in 7th.

G Grade:
Winning the toss we went out to bat first, in the same reduced 25 overs match as the B Grade. Father and Son, Andrew and Zach opened the batting together, but unfortunately we were 2/6 early. MC and Christo got us up to 44, while Dos also chipped in with 15, while no one else made many runs, leaving us with a small total of 91 to defend.
Needing to bowl them out, we started in the perfect way, as Mike got a wicket first ball of the first and 3rd overs, having them 2/1. They steadied before we then took 4/3 leaving them 6/27, with Daniel on debut taking 2. On came Saxon who after bowling well in his debut, followed up with a match finishing spell of 3/6, as we bowled them out for 50, winning by an extraordinary 41 runs!
Finishing off the season with a bang, 4 and 10 and finishing 6th.

Hayden Blackie is the Player of the Week!

In his 4th game for the season, after coming back from many injuries, Dos opened the bowling with his Dad. Getting the opener early, Dos' first spell ended at 1/9 off 5 overs. Dos then came back either side of drinks to take his 2nd wicket and bowl his 2nd maiden, as he ended with figures of 2/22 off 8 overs.

Coming in to bat at #9, the team was 7/29, with any respectable score looking far away. Dos was a part of 2 partnerships that were able to get the score up to 72, with Dos top scoring with 26, the only batsman to score double figures in what was a difficult batting innings.

Unfortunately Dos' performance was unable to get the team the win, but it helped put some respect into the batting and the bowling.

Round 16 Results 🏏

B Grade:
In unprecedented scenes, we broke the streak of losing 10 tosses in a row. With 3 players leaving early, ironically we had to bowl first anyways. Getting off to a quick start like they always do, we were to take some wickets to put pressure on the Hawks. Most of their players got starts, but none of them past 45, which helped keep the score down. Unfortunately some drops and some big overs in the last quarter of the innings for them to 225, when a score below 200 was looking likely, with Josh and Gavo the pick of the bowlers.
In reply, we had 3 pinch hitters at the top of the batting order, with the openers contributing well to get us off to a good start. Much like the first innings, many of our batsman got off to starts, with Flynn making 45, continuing his great form. Unfortunately with some highly suspect fielding from Hawks, we were unable to get the runs, falling 22 runs short in a game that felt like it should have been ours.

G Grade:
Losing the toss we were looking to do better than the 300 runs that we conceded to Ellenbrook last time. Dos opened the bowling and bowled very well, finishing the innings with 2fer and only conceding 22 runs. All of the bowlers chipped in with wickets, and it was excited to see Saxon get his first for the club on debut. Unfortunately 44 extras really hurt as Ellenbrook got to 201.
In reply, it was a batting effort to forget, with early wickets falling, we were 4/10, and then 7/29. Rescuing the team from complete embarrassment, Saxon made 7 on debut, while Dos followed up his bowling with a 26, as the final 2 partnerships got us to 72.

🚨The Parkerville Tavern Player of the week - Round 15🚨

Chris Thomas is the Player of the Week!
Coming in to bat at 3, Christo was in early, with no runs on the board. What followed was a great innings, which saw patience and some great shots as Christo got past 50 for the first time since 2022. His innings include 7 fours, as well as a 57 run partnership with young gun Aiden. Christo falling after facing 87 balls for 65 runs, being out in the middle for 129 runs and nearly 30 overs.

In the bowling innings, Christo has not been able to bowl as much as he would have liked this season, but he has stepped up to take the gloves most weeks, including taking 2 catches in this innings. Christo currently sits top of the association for catches in G Grade.

Unfortunately Christo's performance was unable to get the team the win, but it helped put up a spirited total for the team.

Round 15 Results 🏏

B Grade:
Another week, another loss of the toss, making it 10 straight?! Of course we were bowling first, with Ryley getting a wicket 2nd over, before another in the 5th. A freak run out from a brain fade then saw them 3/24. Bowling 8 straight each, Ryley and Choc set up the game, having them 4/41 after 16 overs. Xav then came on and took 3, having them 8/66. South Rossmoyne got away from us a little before two further run outs saw them all out for 123.
In reply, we got off to an okay start, making 28 for the first wicket, before we lost 2 more for 4 runs. This brought AJ and Choc to the centre, to which they played the game to perfection, taking us from 3/32 to 3/126, chasing down the total in 24 overs, with AJ unbeaten on 60, while Choc was unbeaten on 30.
We now move from 8th to 6th on the ladder, leaving the bottom for the first time this season.

G Grade:
Unlike B Grade, G Grade are able to win a toss, choosing to bat first. We got off to the worst start, being 1/0, before regular wickets fell to leave us 4/54. Aiden and Christo then put on a 57 run partnership. Christo carrying the innings with a well made 65, his first 50 since 2022. There was some good chip ins from Jay, Ritchie and Dos to get us to 162.
In our defence, we got off to a good start, having them 1/7, before a further 2 wickets had them 3/38. Unfortunately their #4 was in for the long stay, making 50, while their #6 also made 30*. Needing to take 10 wickets to win, we were only able to get 5 as they chased the total down with more than 3 overs left.

Round 15 sees two massive games for the club, B Grade hosts South Rossmoyne, a win would see us leap them into 6th. G Grade travel to SKLP, who have not won since round 1 against us, so we look to flip that result.

🚨 The Parkerville Tavern Player of the week - Round 14🚨

Flynn Howse is the Player of the Week!

Coming into the team in the 11th hour as we were still short, Flynn slotted right into the #3 spot in the batting lineup. Coming in early, Flynn played a very controlled innings, turning the strike over constantly, and also taking full advantage in punishing the balls that needed to be.

Bringing up his 3rd fifty for the club, and his first in the top grade, Flynn then passed his previous Mundaring best of 74, and looked well on his way to bringing up triple figures. Unfortunately this wasn't to be, as a mixup in the running saw Flynn run out on 87, but this took nothing away from the exceptional innings that he played.

In the field, Flynn took a great catch off Gavo and was very tidy with the gloves to back up his batting performance.
