PINK ROUND WRAP UP

An incredible effort from the Hills Raiders community across our Pink Round on Mothers Day weekend, with $1,259.75 raised for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. 💗

A special thank you to Priceline Pharmacy Mundaring for their incredible support and generosity in sponsoring the raffle prizes and helping bring the round to life.

From the pops of pink around the courts to the energy across the entire weekend, this was another great example of our basketball community coming together for an important cause.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT | WILL HURLE

Finishing off our National Volunteer Week recognitions with one of our communities friendliest faces, we proudly recognise Will Hurle for his ongoing contribution across both our WABL and Domestic programs.

Will is always willing to step in and help wherever needed, supporting players, coaches, and the wider basketball community behind the scenes. His involvement across multiple areas of the association highlights his dedication to creating a positive and well-supported environment for everyone involved.

Will also plays an important role as a First Aid Officer during our Showdown Series events, helping ensure the safety and wellbeing of players, officials, and spectators throughout the competition.

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK 2026

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT | NICHOLE MOORE

As part of National Volunteer Week, we proudly recognise Nichole Moore for her outstanding contribution to the Hills Lions Basketball Club community.

Nichole has served as Treasurer for approximately five years, bringing dedication, reliability, and an unwavering commitment to the club throughout her time in the role. From the very beginning — including an unforgettable AGM held in the change rooms at Elsie Austin Oval after the wrong keys were handed out — Nichole has been a steady and trusted presence within the club.

Behind the scenes, Nichole has worked tirelessly to help ensure the club remains compliant, sustainable, and well supported for the future. She consistently volunteers her time to assist with club wind-ups and events, always willing to step in wherever needed.

What makes Nichole’s contribution even more special is her continued commitment to Hills Lions, despite her own children no longer playing basketball. Her loyalty, generosity, and passion for community sport are deeply appreciated, and we are incredibly grateful for everything she continues to do for our club.

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK 2026

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT | LAUREN GREAY

Following on from recognising Lee earlier today, it’s only fitting we also celebrate the other half of this incredible volunteer duo — whose impact on Parky Roos has been just as significant.

As President of Parky Roos Basketball Club, Lauren has led a successful club rebuild since late 2023, helping shape a stronger, more connected and community-focused club environment for players, families and volunteers alike.

Lauren has also brought a new level of visibility to the club through securing sponsorship grants that have funded brand new jerseys for the entire club, coach and team manager polo shirts, and all new equipment to support players and teams across every age group...not to mention the introduction of Dunkeroo the Parky Roos club mascot!

From leading communication and social media, to supporting coaches, team managers and committee members behind the scenes, Lauren consistently goes above and beyond to keep the club moving forward and proudly represented within the Hills Raiders community.

Her passion, leadership and drive continue to leave a lasting impact across the club both on and off the court.

Thank you Loz for all you do!

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK 2026

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT | LEE GREAY

As part of the Hills Raiders Basketball Association National Volunteer Week nominations, one nomination stood out so strongly…
the vote was tied when it came to this powerhouse couple.

Lee is the definition of a behind-the-scenes volunteer who keeps the club running. From managing registrations to organising uniforms and equipment across every team, his reliability and commitment are felt throughout the entire Parky Roos community.

Beyond the operational side, Lee has also helped lead and mentor a strong cohort of coaches within the club — something now extending into Hills Raiders with him taking up a coaching role within the U12 Girls WABL program for the 2026 season.

Always willing to step up, lend a hand and support wherever needed, Lee’s contribution to Parky Roos is invaluable.

Thank you Lee for everything you do for Parky Roos

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK 2026

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT | MARGARET DENT

This week, we shine a spotlight on Margaret Dent — a Hills Raiders Life Member and valued volunteer coach within our Ability Hoops program.

Margaret has given so much to our basketball community over the years and continues to make a lasting impact through her involvement, care, and dedication to supporting others. Her passion for helping participants feel included, encouraged, and connected through basketball is something truly special.

As both a Life Member and volunteer coach, Margaret represents the heart of community sport — someone who continues to give back simply because she cares deeply about the people and programs around her.

Thank you Margaret for your years of service, your kindness, and the positive difference you continue to make within Hills Raiders and Ability Hoops.

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK 2026

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT | DANE PARKER

This week, we’re proud to recognise some of the incredible coaches involved in our Ability Hoops program and thank them for the time, care, and dedication they continue to give to our community.

A special spotlight today goes to Dane Parker — one of our participant dads — who loved the program so much that he put his hand up to become a coach himself.

Dane’s passion, encouragement, and willingness to give back perfectly captures what community basketball is all about. His journey from supportive parent to coach has had a positive impact on so many participants within the program and helps create an environment where every athlete feels supported, included, and valued.

Volunteers like Dane are the heart of programs like Ability Hoops, and we are incredibly grateful for the energy and commitment he brings each and every week.

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK 2026

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT | LEAH BAIRSTOW

Hills Raiders Basketball are proud to recognise all types of volunteers this National Volunteer Week, and Gidgegannup Basketball Club are delighted to recognise Leah for her outstanding contribution.

Leah is our superstar Secretary! Taking on the role mid-season at short notice, she has made an incredible contribution in a very short time.

Always the first to step up, she approaches every challenge with integrity, professionalism and compassion.

On game days, she’s there cheering on her two daughters, supporting their teams, helping with scoring, managing subs, and being an all-round legendary basketball mum.

We’re so lucky to have Leah as part of our club.
