Mullumbimby Brunswick Valley FC MBVFC draws from a long and rich history of football. The first competition that Mullumbimby joined, the Tweed District Soccer Association, was entered in 1957.

The first Mullumbimby team was formed in 1933 by Waldemar Melen while soccer was still finding its feet in Australia. Nominated as the Wyverns, the Mullumbimby men were also known as the United Nations, with 9 different nationalities represented in the one squad. The team was led by Harry Thornley, a former British player and member of the famous Dambusters squadron. Harry became a foundation member of many organizations, including the Soccer Club, the Ex- Servicemens Club, the Cricket club, the Referees association, the Tweed and Summerland associations, and was awarded 8 life memberships for his efforts. Mullumbimby won the first ever TDSA premiership in 1959, and enjoyed a number of accolades over the years, including a memorable semi final win in 1968 with only 7 players. Fielding an understrength team with enough fighting spirit to still win a game came to be a hallmark of the Mullumbimby way. Pine Avenue Botanic Gardens has been the Home Ground of Mullumbimby teams since 1984. With 2 mergers along the way in 2010 and 2016, the club now enjoys one of the longest names in football, but the Mullumbimby Brunswick Valley Football Club is also more affectionately known as the Valleys

MBVFC is seeking a Technical Director for the 2027 season.

This is a contracted role. The Technical Director will lead football development across the club, support our coaches, and implement a unified football philosophy for all teams and age groups.

Applicants should hold at least a Football Australia / AFC B Diploma and have experience coaching junior and senior teams across male and female pathways.

A big thank you to Council!

Field 2 top dress is done and the results are looking great. Council delivered 100 cubic metres of material to Pine Ave, and Shane & Byron Council crew got straight into spreading and levelling.

As Nathan (grounds officer) put it: "It was a good day for the fields. Field 2 is fully done, and there was material left over to do some of the worst parts of Field 1," with a couple of cubes set aside behind the mower shed for future repairs.

Huge congratulations to Ziggy Whetstone, named FFNC Men's Premier League Player of the Year for 2026!

The award is based on 3, 2, 1 points submitted by the centre referee after every Premier League fixture across the season, so it's a true reflection of consistent, week in week out quality.

It's a well deserved honour. Ziggy has been outstanding all season, we couldn't be prouder.

SEMI FINALS for our Men's 1sts too!

The boys travel to Kyogle this Sunday with a spot in the grand final on the line.
Kick off is 2:30pm at Field KyH1.

They go in as fourth taking on the minor premiers, but the ladder does not tell the whole story. Our defence conceded just 28 goals across the regular season, the exact same as Kyogle and the second best record in the league. Only one point separated third, fourth and fifth all year, so this is a competition where anyone can beat anyone on the day.

SEMI FINALS: Our Men's Prems take on Byron Bay this Saturday 5 September at 3:00pm at Byron Bay Rec Ground, Field 1.

They finished the regular season third, and here is a stat we like: MBVFC were one of only three sides in the Men's Premier League to end the year with a positive goal difference. Byron Bay sit second and have been strong all season, but finals wipe the ladder clean.

If you can get down there, come and support the boys. A big away crowd makes a difference.

Age 15 Grand Champions!

Our Grade 15 Division 1 team just beat Alstonville FC 2-0 in the Grand Final.

The boys went into the break 1-0 up after Milo pounced on a loose ball in the box, reacting fastest after Kymani’s shot was parried by the keeper. Siam Postma then sealed it with a stunning strike from well outside the box, an effort good enough to earn him Player of the Grand Final.
