Today is Jeans for Genes Day, and we’re encouraging our wonderful Mudgee community to donate digitally and help support the life changing work of CMRI.

For 60 years, the CMRI Mudgee Committee has been doing it for the kids, and today is another reminder of why this cause matters so deeply.

Every donation, big or small, helps fund vital children’s medical research and brings hope to families who need it most.

We also want to say a huge thank you to the fantastic community here in Mudgee, especially Mudgee Public School, who turned up and turned out for our committee and some of our amazing local ambassadors.

Seeing the whole school come together to mark out CMRI 60 in celebration was incredibly special, and a moment our committee will not forget.

To everyone wearing denim, donating, sharing the message or showing support today, thank you.

This is what community looks like.

Jeans for Genes Day is next week, and while we won’t be holding a bake sale this year, there is still a simple way to support CMRI.

Every donation, big or small, helps fund vital children’s medical research and supports the work that gives hope to kids and families facing genetic conditions and serious childhood illness.

For 60 years, CMRI Mudgee has been proudly doing it for the kids, and we’d love our community to keep that spirit going in the lead up to Jeans for Genes Day.

If you can donate, we would be so grateful. Just click on the link in our bio.

As we get ready for Twist & Shout this Saturday, we want to pause and say a very heartfelt thank you.

To every business who has donated, every person who has given their time, every volunteer who has helped behind the scenes, and every supporter who has contributed in any way, thank you.

An event like this does not happen because of one person.

It happens because a community steps forward.

It happens because people say yes, offer what they can, lend a hand, donate generously, share the message, and believe in the cause.

This Saturday night, we will come together to celebrate 60 years of CMRI Mudgee, a milestone built on compassion, hard work, and decades of locals doing it for the kids.

We are so looking forward to a massive night of celebration, community, music, memories, and purpose.

To everyone who has helped bring this event to life, please know how grateful we are.

🎟️ There are only 2 days left to purchase raffle tickets.

Meet Charlie Swords, our energetic, kind and history-making 10-year-old CMRI Mudgee ambassador.

Charlie has Down syndrome, and his family shares that CMRI’s research helps advance knowledge around genetic disorders, which can benefit children with Down syndrome and many other genetic and degenerative conditions.

Charlie lives with his Mum, Dad and big brother Rían, and goes to mainstream school at St Matt’s, where he is currently in Year 4.

He is also the first child with Down syndrome to attend St Matt’s, making him a little pioneer in his own right.

At home, Charlie has a French bulldog named Evie, who he lovingly describes as “crazy but cute”.

He loves reading, going to hip hop, playing soccer and doing little athletics, keeping life very full and very fun.

Charlie’s family says:
“CMRI does incredible research to help children with different genetic and degenerative conditions and we’re so grateful for the amazing research that they do.
CMRI Mudgee is an amazing cohort of like minded people doing wonderful things in our community through fundraising, building awareness and being so wonderfully inclusive.”

And to keep the 60s spirit going, Charlie’s family favourites are Respect by Aretha Franklin and I Heard It Through the Grapevine by Marvin Gaye.

A great big thank you to Charlie and his family for sharing their story with us.

You are exactly why Mudgee keeps doing it for the kids.
