What a wonderful treat we had at our last monthly meeting! We were delighted to welcome Tania Brown from Phoenix Stamps as our guest speaker. Tania is also a member of Waverley Patchworkers.

Tania shared her story on how she got started and shared her creativity, knowledge and passion, giving us plenty of inspiration and a fascinating insight into her work. Thank you, Tania, for joining us and sharing your talents with our members.

Show & Tell

What a wonderful Show & Tell we enjoyed at our last monthly meeting! 🌟 Our talented members brought along some beautiful quilts and projects to share, showcasing creativity, skill and a love of patchwork.

On August 2, 2026 Steven and Sonia Cosgrove ( NSW Coordinators for QOVA) presented a quilt made by Waverley Patchworkers to Belinda Leonard, the CEO of Noro Music Therapy Penrith. It was gifted in recognition & appreciation of her work providing music therapy for Veterans, so they can find hope and healing through music.
The quilt was presented at the Guitars for Veteran’s Charity event at Evan Theatre Panthers Penrith.
This lovely quilt was made especially for Gift Quilts by Annemarie Campbell and demonstrates her skill and technical expertise.
Belinda is an amazing person, who through her own compassion and generosity has made a real difference in the lives of veterans.

⭐🩵Patchwork Jacket October Workshop with Jenny Lindton🩵

This class will provide guidance/tips/assistance to create a patchwork jacket. You can make it short (hip length) or long (knee length). It can be monochrome or multi coloured. They are quite addictive! (I am up to my 6th one)

It is a great opportunity to use up those small pieces of special fabric you have been saving. You may have a selection of Japanese style fabrics, a collection of butterfly fabrics, lots of green fabrics etc.

On Thursday Norma Aitken & Jan Ebbott MacFayden from Oz Comfort Quilts met with Anne & her friend Carol to deliver more quilts for residents affected by bushfires. This time we focused on individuals and families in the Tablelands area.
We delivered 11 quilts, 8 crocheted blankets, handmade socks, beanies & scarves.
Anne has been a valuable resource to help us reach members of the community . Our outreach will continue as people find more permanent living arrangements.
Currently , many do not have good quality stable housing, some will be in caravans & some people have relocated elsewhere.

On Thursday , I took a large delivery of quilts to SECASA for all their offices. Altogether there were 38 quilts, 6 rugs, 5 teddies and a bag. Waverley Patchworkers provided 17 quilts & Oz Comfort Quilts gave 21. The previous day , we received a call from the Seaford Office asking for help , all offices had run out of quilts. Their counsellor said, they present them to clients when they are ready & resilient enough to move on from counselling. Fortunately, Jan & I plan ahead & we already had quilts that were just about ready to distribute.

Our latest delivery to SECASA for their 5 sites . There were 37 quilts, 16 from Waverley Patchworkers & 21 from Oz Comfort Quilts. We also donated rugs & teddies.

We are incredibly grateful for the generous donation of beautiful handmade quilts for survivors across all our SECASA sites.
These quilts are much more than something to keep warm. They are used during therapy to provide comfort, a sense of safety and emotional support to survivors as they navigate their healing journey.
