Yesterday Jan Ebbott MacFayden & Norma Aitken drove to Ruffy & Molesworth to deliver quilts, handmade rugs, beanies & shawls to bushfire affected areas. Waverley Patchworkers & Oz Comfort Quilts are collaborating on this Quilt Drive.
We have been working with Anne Douglas to supply large individually selected quilts for locals , who have lost houses, livestock, sheds & livestock. It is a very stressful time & some of them will decide to settle elsewhere.
Anne kindly invited us to Ruffy’s Biggest Morning event , where it was great to meet Anne & the team. While we were there we were interviewed by Annie from ABC’s Country Hour and met Leigh, one of Strathbogie Shire’s relief workers as well as some of the local residents.
The car was stacked to the brim with 28 specially selected quilts, double or queen for couples & large quilts for singles. Each quilt was packed in a labelled handmade bag. 22 quilts went to Ruffy, 4 went to Avenel & 4 went to Fawcett Hall. They will all be delivered to the recipients. We also packed blankets, rugs, beanies, shawls & a Wogga, it is getting cold.
It was lovely to receive a bunch of local proteas . Thanks.
From Ruffy we headed to Molesworth Hall to meet Linda Dover. We had boxes of craft materials donated by members of Waverley Patchworkers & Oz Comfort Quilts for their craft group. We were able share a cuppa & discuss how we can help them.
Thank you for your support
