Mining & Energy Union representatives have recently attended the Glencore AGM to ask the board why they are trying to introduce lower pay tiers into their EA's in the Hunter Valley?

The members at Mangoola, Wambo and Ravensworth Lodges are standing strong to protect against these unacceptable pay structures being introduced, which will erode wages in our industry and strip away the life changing pay increases that have been won because of Same Job Same Pay legislation.

Mines like HVO provide a massive number of direct and indirect jobs in our local communities and provide a huge boost to our local economy. Lets show our support for the HVO continuation project and our comrades over at Hunter Valley United Lodge by adding your name today.

For more than 70 years, Hunter Valley Operations has supported thousands of local jobs, apprenticeships, small businesses and communities across the Upper Hunter.

Now HVO is seeking approval to continue operating into the future, supporting around 1,500 ongoing jobs and hundreds more during infrastructure upgrades.

If you support keeping good mining jobs in the Hunter, backing local suppliers and protecting the economic future of the region, add your name in support.

We encourage all of our members and followers to take a second and add your name to the petition to save Liberty Bell Bay Smelter.

Liberty Bell Bay is Australia’s only manganese smelter — and without urgent action from the state and federal governments, it’s at risk of closing for good.

In March, the smelter entered voluntary administration, and time is running out to protect more than 200 jobs at this site.

We’re calling on the Tasmanian Premier, the Prime Minister and the Federal Government to step in with immediate support to keep the plant operating while a buyer is secured.

Sign the petition in the comments below and join our fight to Save Liberty Bell Bay!

A fantastic outcome that upholds the core principles of Same Job Same Pay.

Big news from the High Court today!

They have rejected BHP's application for special leave to appeal against Same Job Same Pay orders for Operations Services workers at their QLD coal mines Saraji, Peak Downs and Goonyella Riverside.

The highest court in the land has spoken. Same Job Same Pay is here to stay.

This!

The MEU gives all members the Democratic right to have their own say on the leadership of our Union.

And its our members who volunteer for roles like our Returning Officers to make it all possible.

With that said, we better give a shout out to our Local Returning Officer - Edan Price, for making our ballot run smoothly and on time, and to all other Returning Officers across the MEU for their efforts!

And thanks to our members for taking the opportunity to stop in and cast your votes!

Shout out to all our Lodge Returning Officers, who are at the heart of our MEU democratic processes.

John "Dorsal" Finn is the Returning Officer for Blackwater No. 1 Lodge in Queensland. He's making time at the start and end of each shift changeover to give Lodge members the opportunity to participate in the national ballot for the MEU's new General Secretary.

Dorsal is a long-time coal miner and trade unionist - he says that having a say in your leaders and your working conditions shouldn't be taken for granted.

"I try and do every morning and afternoon, trying to get people on their way home and going to work, says Dorsal. "People just think that things happen because someone in the Union will look after us - but you've got to speak up and have a say!"

MEU members - vote as soon as possible, whether it's by postal ballot or on site.

Fighting for secure jobs with good wages and conditions is how we pass on a decent future for our kids.

Thanks Lexi for standing up against worker rip-offs by greedy companies!

We're saying no to Shifty Cuts that undermine our pay and rights.
