Autumn Seasonal Frog Census | 1st–8th March 🐸

You're invited to join the Autumn Seasonal Census to help uncover the hidden world of frogs! By simply recording frog calls, you’ll be helping ecologists track how frog populations are doing and what that means for our ecosystems. 🌱

Every recording helps experts identify species, monitor breeding patterns, and understand habitat changes.

What do you get when you move a pot in the nursery at The Mount Pleasant Environment Centre?
🐸🐸🐸

Three little tree frogs
Underneath a pot
Hiding from the sun
On a day quite hot

One jumped left
And two jumped right
Who are these big humans
Giving us a fright?!
🐸🐸🐸

It's a great time of year to spot insects!
Check out this amazing Bee Fly we had visiting our community garden this week 🀩
It's known as a Large Banded Bee Fly (Ligyra cingulata)πŸͺ°

Bee Flies are true flies and part of the Bombyliidae family. They have a hovering type of flight, and make quite a loud buzzing sound. They're important pollinators feeding on nectar and pollen. An asset in the bush, and in the garden! πŸ’š
