Recently, Red Cross Vice Patron Val Smyth and Pat Pearson - Chairman of the Red Cross Board (and Nairne Branch President) were on hand to present Heather Reekes-Parsons and Paula Bartsch with their 10 year medals, and to thank and farewell President Margaret Seager (seated), who has handed over the reins to new President, Mandy Lintern.

Today, according to the Landmine Monitor 2025, 52 countries and territories are still affected by anti-personnel mines and other explosive remnants of war. Of these, 36 are States Parties to the Mine Ban Treaty.

The impact of unexploded ordnance does not end when fighting stops. It remains in fields, roads, and homes, turning everyday environments into lasting hazards.

All parties to armed conflict must take all feasible precautions to protect civilians from weapon contamination.
