The Mount Magnet Gymkhana Club says a massive thank you - to those who sponsored, competed, volunteered, judged, commentated, timed, lead, scribed, cooked, cleaned, rode, served, helped, spectated, photographed and stood on the end of a lane to help make what was a wonderful Mount Magnet Gymkhana 2026.
A MASSIVE THANK YOU goes especially to our President Rob Lefroy our Vice President Jason Homewood, Treasurer Katie Folezzani our Chief Steward Jorgen Jensen, our judges Bill Moses, Corey Folezzani and judge/starter Jason Homewood and wonderful commentator Kylie Rowe all who helped on the ground - Bethanie Moore, Claire Mahony and Anna Mahony especially with timed events so we could run a couple of events concurrently. To the champions who all stood on a line and hauled buckets, jumps, apples, panels and potatoes for our novelty events - thank you. To all the generous sponsors who made our fantastic prizes possible- so appreciate every generous donation.
Thanks to the Magnet Shire for having the grounds ready.
This year we were again so fortunate to have the wonderful CWA of Kirkalocka ladies who helped keep the food and drinks up throughout the day. Take a bow Blair Ridley, Cath Jones and Crystal Sirrine - the food and the service and your Easter raffle was as brilliant as always. I would also especially like to thank the formidable and intrepid one in a million Anna Tierney (marshalling steward/secretary extraordinaire) for making my role as secretary possible with kids riding and a Polly in tow (Maree Le Moignan your help getting us in there and on the day and pushing Polly around is appreciated beyond words)! And to Katie Folezzani for always being there to support me and help sell merchandise on gymkhana day. I could not have done it without your help.
To Crabbey, Johnny and Gerard Jones for getting the beers cold and being such fantastic barmen.
Thank you. You did a cracking job!
To Justine Rowe for taking photos on the day. Thank you so much for capturing the day!
To Anna Mahony - a massive thank you for donating and cooking breakfast this morning and for making sure everyone who wanted a feed before they hit the road had one.
A big thank you also needs to go out to the Easter Bunny for putting in such a big effort to come to Magnet despite sobering fuel prices and for putting such a huge effort dotting eggs all over the grounds. It was a joy seeing such happy little faces covered in chocolate this morning.
Lastly and very importantly - thank you to the amazing volunteers with St John's Mount Magnet. Yesterday was a reminder of just how important your role as volunteers are in our community. Thank you for your care of a very special competitor yesterday. St John WA - Mount Magnet
To all who travelled so many miles and competed THANK YOU. Never before are people in the bush (our committee members especially) stretched so thin, there are less of us doing far more than ever before. We want to keep these iconic bush events going and we can't do that without you all showing up, competing and supporting our gymkhana. Thank you one and all.
And to the little lead lines we hope you keep building the confidence to saddle up year, in and year out to become the fantastic little riders that these bush gymkhanas have always produced. Thatβs is what it will always be about for us and our small, hardworking bush gymkhana committee.
As one of our treasured life members of the Mount Magnet Gymkhana Club Paul Jones would say "the spirit's in the gathering".
And the spirit of the bush is absolutely alive and well out here in our small but mighty community of Mount Magnet.
We look forward to seeing you all back next year!
HAPPY EASTER ONE AND ALL!
