🎺🎷 Calling all woodwind and brass instrument owners! 🎷🎺

Do you have a woodwind or brass instrument at home that could use a service or repair?

We are looking to help arrange for an instrument repairer to come to town to service and repair privately owned woodwind and brass instruments (please note: this does not include school-owned instruments).

If you have an instrument that needs attention, please send us a message as soon as possible to register your interest. The more interest we receive, the easier it will be to help organise a visit from the repairer.

We met with JPL to discuss music in our community. We love supporting our community with music, however we do need music teachers to help facilitate this. With not all schools offering a music program (only 2 of the state primary schools and 1 of the catholic primary schools having a music specialist and limited music in secondary schools and only 2 instrumental music teachers) it is getting harder to recruit musicians into our ensembles and community projects. We discussed this and more about music in our community.

If you play an instrument or sing and would like to join a community ensemble we currently run a string ensemble for players AMEB 3+ ages 16+, a recorder ensemble AMEB 2+ and a community choir.

Bravo to the Mount Isa Community Ensembles Inc., Community Choir, and talented artists Melissa Buchholz (pianist) and Meg Kiddle (vocalist) on the recent Queens of Song Mount Isa performance!

We’re proud to have supported this incredible initiative that brought together Mount Isa’s music community through collaboration and connection.

From inspiring workshops with primary and secondary school students, to mentoring and professional development for local artists, the project created meaningful opportunities for musicians at every level.

It’s wonderful that our community had the opportunity to enjoy these experiences right here at home in Mount Isa.

The Mount Isa Community Ensembles (MICE) Choir is welcoming new members and we would love to see you there!
Ages 8+ and all abilities are welcome.

Term Fees are necessary for MICE to keep our ensembles running and support everything we do!

🎤Adults: $50 per term (or $150 for the year)
🎤Students / Seniors / Concession: $35 per term (or $105 for the year)

👩‍🎤 MOUNT ISA SET FOR QUEENS OF SONG🎤

A night of powerhouse vocals is coming to Mount Isa this Saturday night — with Queens of Song: Heavenly Hits Through the Decades taking to the stage at the Civic Centre.

🎶 The Queensland touring show brings together professional performers, local musicians and school students – celebrating women in music and the strength of regional talent - in conjunction with the Mount Isa Community Ensemble.

✨ Director and pianist Melissa Buchholz said the project has been in the works for some time.

💬 “It’s a big project and we’ve been working on it for a year… we do some work in regional communities but Mount Isa is the biggest one we’ve undertaken.”

🎓 Among the performers is 17-year-old Spinifex State College student Ashlea Lavell, who will take part in two duets on the night.

🌟 Melissa Buchholz said the talent in the region has stood out.

💬 “The talent here is exceptional… they don’t realise how good they actually are.”

💬 “We hope to touch the hearts of some of the kids… and for some, this will be like a launching pad for them.”

🎟️ The performance will be held at the Mount Isa Civic Centre this Saturday at 7pm.
