OUR STORIES - CUC Mount Isa

Ludana is completing a Post Grad Certificate in Nursing (Education) with James Cook University.
Ludana started off as an Indigenous Health Worker 25 years ago and has been a registered nurse for the last 20 years specialising for the last decade in Maternal, Child Health, Immunisation and Midwifery.
Now focusing on education in nursing and midwifery, Ludana currently works as a
senior lecturer in nursing for JCU, focusing on pathways to grow our own mob of nursing in Mount Isa with particular interest in growing the Indigenous Nursing & Midwifery workforce.

When asked about the importance of having CUC in Mount Isa, Lousie shared
"CUC Mount Isa is a quiet, comfortable and safe study space to hang out
with like-minded people."

OUR STORIES - CUC Mount Isa

Louise is completing a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics with Griffith University in pursuit of an interest in nutrition developed as a young mother 30 years ago. Louise decided to study to gain a proper uderstanding on the science of nutrition and enjoys being able to find and understand the research, avoiding false information.

Louise is in her fourth year of an honours degree working on a research project on the association of bitter taste sensitivity with anthropometric science and body composition. After completing a 10 week placement in Mount Isa, Louise has a further 8 week placement at PA Hospital in Brisbane before graduating in December, just a few weeks after her 60th birthday!!

When asked about the importance of having CUC in Mount Isa, Lousie shared
"CUC gave me a safe quiet space to work with added luxuries like coffee and snacks, and a dedicated room to relax. This was important as I forget to relax sometimes. I also loved having craft things on hand, again a reminder to relax. Thank you CUC!"
