CHECK YOUR EMERGENCY KIT and make sure you have essentials like water, food, torch/es, batteries, and medications within easy reach.

CHARGE UP DEVICES like phones, tablets, ipads, power banks, torches, etc

HAVE FUEL AT THE READY for if needed for generators, and HAVE GAS BOTTLES READY for equipment like camp lights and stoves.

KNOW WHERE you can safely relocate to if needed

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
π₯ If outside, find SAFE SHELTER AWAY FROM trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams.
π₯ Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from windows.
π₯ Unplug electrical appliances and do NOT use land line telephones if there is lightning.
π₯ If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water.
π₯ Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power lines and loose debris.
π₯ Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
π₯ Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris.
π₯ Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live.
π₯ Assess your home, vehicle/s and property for damage.
π₯ If damage has occurred, take photos and contact your insurance company to organise repairs.
