A new direction for local government leadership.

Our new Strategic Plan 2026 to 2029 sets out how LG Professionals WA will support the sector over the next three years, with a focus on strengthening leadership, building capability and supporting the people who make local government thrive.

Shaped by feedback from local government professionals across Western Australia, the strategy will deliver new initiatives, practical resources, workforce insights and leadership opportunities to help local governments attract, develop and retain great people.

The Leadership Competency Framework is the first major initiative to bring this vision to life, providing a shared language for leadership and supporting individuals, teams and organisations to build capability across Western Australia’s local government sector.
