🏆 Putting Local Government in the Spotlight

LG Professionals WA is proud to partner with Institute of Public Administration Australia WA IPAA WA to support the 2026 IPAA WA Achievement Awards - recognising the outstanding people, leadership and innovation shaping communities across Western Australia.

"Behind every liveable and connected community is strong, functional local government leadership. These awards help shine a light on the dedication and innovation that deliver meaningful outcomes for local communities and promote the importance of the Local Government sector." Andrew Sharpe, CEO City of Albany.

Too often, the impact of local government goes unseen. These awards are an opportunity to shine a light on the incredible work happening across our sector.

“It gave me tremendous pleasure to see two staff members from the City of Gosnells receive Achievements Awards through IPAA. It was great to see Gosnells staff recognised in awards which are open to the whole of the public sector in Western Australia, not just Local Government.” – Ian Cowie PSM, Chief Executive Officer – City of Gosnells

There are multiple categories open to local government individuals and teams, including the exclusive Local Government Leader of the Year Award recognising exceptional CEO leadership. Follow this link for all award categories: https://www.wa.ipaa.org.au/awards-scholarships/achievement-awards/award-categories/

Last year’s recipient, Dean Unsworth, was recognised for collaborative, community-focused leadership delivering meaningful outcomes for the community.

“Having one of your peers nominated is a very special acknowledgement for the hard work that is put into serving the community at the grass roots level. Having been nominated by my team was so humbling. Therefore, I encourage you to submit a nomination in this years’ awards. It is such a positive way to reflect the amazing work that people do in our sector”. Dean Unsworth, CEO Shire of Murray
