Scouts WA

Scouts WA With over 57–60 million members in 170+ countries! Scouts are Messengers of Peace - aiming to create a better world globally by acting locally.

Scouting is a global, non-formal educational movement, founded in 1907, that has shaped the development of over 500 million youth and adults for more than 100 years. Scouting makes a direct and positive impact on the community by teaching positive values and leadership skills to youth. Every year, Scouting youth and their leaders contribute thousands of volunteer hours to their local communities.

Sharing time with the aged in the local community, helping with Clean Up Australia Day, Harmony Day and planting trees to help with the Murray-Darling River Rescue are just a few examples of the commitment Scouts make to their communities. They also participate in many different activities including abseiling, rock climbing, archery, canoeing, hiking and camping as well as activities that teach them resilience and independence. Taking ownership of programming, learning to manage risk, working on Leadership skills as well as doing practical things like First Aid and Cooking and doing fun things like national and international camps and Jamborees are some of the great things that Scouting youth get involved in. Plan Do Review is a structured improvement framework which encourages Scouting youth to assess and improve what they do.

🌏 World Environment Day

World Environment Day is led by the United Nations and connects to the Sustainable Development Goals. It puts focus on how we protect what we rely on and how we act with more care.
Across Scouts WA, this shows up in practical ways. Looking after local places. Reducing what we waste. Paying attention to the impact we have when we are outdoors.
If you are part of our community, take a moment to think about what you can do next. Start small. Keep it going.

💛 WA Day
Today is about this place we share.
Western Australia is vast and varied. It holds stories that go back tens of thousands of years, alongside those that are still being written.
At Scouts WA, we see what makes this state what it is. Young people stepping up. Volunteers giving their time. Communities showing up for each other in quiet, steady ways.
WA Day is a chance to take stock of that. To think about where we live and what we contribute to it.
Wherever you are across WA today, we hope you find a moment to enjoy it.

🖤💛❤️ National Reconciliation Week
Reconciliation asks more than awareness.
At Scouts WA, we work with young people while their understanding is still forming. That carries responsibility. We help shape how they see this country and its history.
This week is not something to acknowledge and move past. It should stay with us in how we show up, in the choices we make, and in who we include.
For some in our community, this week is deeply personal. It connects to family and culture.
We recognise that and we respect it.
If you are part of Scouts WA, take time to listen and learn in a way that continues beyond this week.

Happy Eid al Adha to those celebrating! 🌙✨
Today, we celebrate the spirit of sacrifice, generosity, and community.
At Scouts, these values are lived every day. We help others, we give our time, and we stand together, no matter our background or beliefs.
To all our members, families, and friends celebrating Eid al-Adha, we wish you a day filled with joy, connection, and meaningful moments with loved ones.

🖤💛❤️ National Sorry Day
Today, we acknowledge the strength of the Stolen Generations and remember the pain and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
At Scouts WA, we believe in learning from the past and walking forward together with respect, understanding, and care.
Sorry means listening.
Sorry means learning.
Sorry means doing better.
We encourage our community to take a moment today to reflect, have a conversation, and continue building a more inclusive future for all young people.
🤍 Take a moment today to learn or share

As we wrap up National Volunteer Week, we pause to recognise the extraordinary people who make Scouting possible - our volunteers. Thank you.
Scouting is often described as a place where young people grow, and it is.
But it's also a journey for volunteers too: one filled with new experiences, meaningful connections, and moments of adventure you may never have expected.
Volunteer with Scouts Australia.
Help young people grow - and gain skills that can take you further, including nationally recognised qualifications through Scouts Autralia Institute of Training (RTO 5443).

🐢🌏 Today is World Turtle Day and a great reminder of the incredible wildlife we share our planet with.
Turtles play an important role in healthy ecosystems and many species need our help as their habitats face increasing pressure.
We would love to hear from you.

What happens when Scouting meets space exploration?
During Scouts WA's OneCamp Discover event in late April, hundreds of young people from across Western Australia had the extraordinary opportunity to make live contact with astronauts aboard the International Space Station.
The event gave Scouts the chance to ask questions directly to crew members orbiting approximately 400 kilometres above Earth, creating an unforgettable experience that combined science, technology, communication and exploration.
For many of our Scouts, this wasn't just a conversation with astronauts. It was a moment that made science, technology and exploration feel real. A reminder that the skills they develop through Scouting such as curiosity, communication, problem solving and confidence, can open doors to opportunities they may never have imagined.
Scouting is about helping young people discover their potential and explore the world around them. Sometimes that world extends a little further than expected... all the way to the International Space Station.
Experiences like this inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, innovators and leaders, while showing that learning can happen in extraordinary ways.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this unforgettable experience possible and helping our young people reach for the stars.

✡️ Shavuot
Wishing a meaningful Shavuot to all members of our Scouts WA community who are celebrating.
Shavuot marks the giving of the Torah and has long been a time of learning and reflection. Many will gather with family, share meals, and stay up into the night to study.
At Scouts WA, curiosity and learning sit at the centre of what we do. Moments like this remind us how important it is to keep asking questions and to make space for different traditions within our community.
If you are celebrating, we hope this time brings connection and meaning.

At Scouts Australia, volunteering means making new friendships, building connections, and supporting your local community.
Each weekend, many volunteers host BBQs to raise funds that support young Scouts with opportunities to grow in confidence and connect with each other through adventurous and enriching experiences.
Whether you are a parent helping out, a volunteer helper, a Leader, or a supporter working behind the scenes - you are the lifeblood of Scouts Australia. Thank you for your amazing work and dedication.
