What an incredible weekend at Leyburn! Here is the official wrap-up from the weekend's Amazing Night Run. 🚙💨🌕🕒

The Schedule Breakdown
The action kicked off at the Leyburn Pub at 5:00pm. By 5:30pm, everyone was tucked into some absolutely amazing schnitties and parmies. We ran the event briefing at 6:00pm over dinner, leading into a staged departure right on 6:30pm.

⛰️The Track & Camp
The route was a solid Grade 3 trip overall. While most of it sat at a comfortable Grade 2, one tricky section stepped it up to earn that Grade 3 rating!

Campers set up base near the pub, enjoying the atmosphere and the luxury of the portable toilet and shower block. 🚿⛺👀

An observation from the President
It is often said that the true spirit of a 4WD club shines brightest when things go wrong, and this weekend proved it. When the President's rig suffered a breakdown that kept them out of the driver's seat for the Night Run, the immediate support from members was next-level. While it was a stressful situation, it served as a great reminder of how incredibly supportive this club is. It also served as a clear observation that even a mighty Landcruiser can have a bad day when trying to keep up with the club Patrols! 🤫

Toyota jokes aside, the President is deeply grateful to everyone who stepped up to offer help, and especially to those who let them ride shotgun so they didn't miss out on the action. Even though the car ultimately had to be towed away, staying on to enjoy the weekend with everyone made it all worthwhile. A special shout-out also goes to the President's Mum and Dad, who drove all the way out to rescue them and tow their van home! ❤️

🪵 Day Tripping & Night Run Activities
Before the sun went down, a handful of members spent the day checking out the tracks at the new Thanes Creek 4x4 Park while the setup crew locked in the night's events.

A massive thank you to Trip Leaders Dave & Nancy, Tail End Charlie Ashley, and all their amazing helpers ⏩ Will, Robin, Kerrie, Hamish, Rosco, Pauline, and Jess ⏩ for putting on an unforgettable event.

Here is exactly how the challenges shook out:
Checkpoint 1 & 2 (Timed Activities): Complete short, 5-minute challenges to earn points!⏱️
Roadblock: One teammate uses chopsticks to transfer M&Ms in a 60-second dexterity test. 🥢
Detour Option 1: Teammates race to solve a shape puzzle under torchlight. 🔦🧩Detour Option 2: Teammates stand 3 metres apart for a high-pressure bucket-toss challenge. 🪣🧦
Checkpoint 3: A quick, untimed safety check-in only. 🦺
👍Bribes: Gold coins were encouraged for checkpoint marshals to score advantages; all proceeds going to charity! 🪙

❤️Thank you and well done to everyone who came out! 🥂

Pre-game before the main event! 🌲🚜

While our awesome organisers and helpers were busy finalising details for Saturday night’s run, a few of us snuck away for an afternoon scout. We had a killer, mild sunny day to head out and check out the new 4WD park in the area to see what it's all about.

A couple of keen clubbers couldn't resist and tested out a few of the tracks early! It definitely got the adrenaline pumping before we all met up for an early dinner at the historic Royal Hotel Leyburn.

Nothing like a warm pub feed and a massive night out on the tracks for a late Autumn fix. Check out some of the action from the daylight session below! 👇

Gear up, Clubbers!

The countdown is officially ON for this weekend’s epic night run into the country part of the Great Brisbane Region! Some members have already arrived with the rest arriving tomorrow. 🚙💨

We are tracking some seriously wild weather variations out there. Word on the gravel is tonight is going down to a positively arctic 8 degrees. Pack your club jackets, your thermal underwear, and maybe a hot water bottle for your winch. 😉

The good news? Tomorrow night is practically a tropical heatwave, skyrocketing all the way up to a balmy 10 degrees. 😊 You can leave the sunscreen at home since it's pitch black, but definitely prepare yourself for that massive 2-degree heat spike! 🥶☀️

Before we hit the tracks and inevitably get someone bogged in the dark, we are gathering at the local pub for some pub grub. It's a great chance to get warm, fill your belly, and swap lies about how lift kits solve all of life's problems. 🍔🍻

The excitement is building and everyone is expecting an absolute cracker of a weekend. It's going to be freezing, muddy, and a total laugh. Prep your rigs, and let’s go play in the dark! 🌲🔦

🏝️ K’gari Magic Part 2: The Adventure Continues!
🌊The clean-up was just the beginning!

Once the work wrapped up, our QNPC convoy kept the engines running for an epic week of island touring.

Tracks, Tides & Touring 🚜We spent our days mastering deep inland tracks and timing beach highways perfectly. We tackled the sand up to Champagne Pools for a salty soak, pushed north to Indian Head, and spotted dingoes from a safe distance. Every track gave the rigs a proper workout!

Golden Hours & Campfire Stories 🌅The rest of the week absolutely turned it on. Every afternoon became a race to the beach to catch those fiery QLD skies melting into the ocean. We wrapped up each day lined up on the sand, cold drink in hand, watching the sky turn pink and gold.

Feasts & The QNPC Family 🍽️Happy hour started the second engines switched off. We shared massive camp oven cook-outs and swapped recovery stories around the fire.

A massive shout-out to our clubber, Martin! He fits right in with our bunch of loud Aussies like he’s been here for years. You’re a fantastic member, Martin, and we’re absolutely not letting you leave the club! 🇳🇴🦘

Memories made, air filters clogged, and smiles locked in. Until next time, K’gari!
