What an incredible weekend at Leyburn! Here is the official wrap-up from the weekend's Amazing Night Run. 🚙💨🌕🕒
The Schedule Breakdown
The action kicked off at the Leyburn Pub at 5:00pm. By 5:30pm, everyone was tucked into some absolutely amazing schnitties and parmies. We ran the event briefing at 6:00pm over dinner, leading into a staged departure right on 6:30pm.
⛰️The Track & Camp
The route was a solid Grade 3 trip overall. While most of it sat at a comfortable Grade 2, one tricky section stepped it up to earn that Grade 3 rating!
Campers set up base near the pub, enjoying the atmosphere and the luxury of the portable toilet and shower block. 🚿⛺👀
An observation from the President
It is often said that the true spirit of a 4WD club shines brightest when things go wrong, and this weekend proved it. When the President's rig suffered a breakdown that kept them out of the driver's seat for the Night Run, the immediate support from members was next-level. While it was a stressful situation, it served as a great reminder of how incredibly supportive this club is. It also served as a clear observation that even a mighty Landcruiser can have a bad day when trying to keep up with the club Patrols! 🤫
Toyota jokes aside, the President is deeply grateful to everyone who stepped up to offer help, and especially to those who let them ride shotgun so they didn't miss out on the action. Even though the car ultimately had to be towed away, staying on to enjoy the weekend with everyone made it all worthwhile. A special shout-out also goes to the President's Mum and Dad, who drove all the way out to rescue them and tow their van home! ❤️
🪵 Day Tripping & Night Run Activities
Before the sun went down, a handful of members spent the day checking out the tracks at the new Thanes Creek 4x4 Park while the setup crew locked in the night's events.
A massive thank you to Trip Leaders Dave & Nancy, Tail End Charlie Ashley, and all their amazing helpers ⏩ Will, Robin, Kerrie, Hamish, Rosco, Pauline, and Jess ⏩ for putting on an unforgettable event.
