We end the 2025-2026 Lions year with the installation of new President Peter Pignotti. Zone Chairperson Beccy Field performed the official installation of the President and Board, presenting the Charter Certificate of the club to President Peter.
During the evening, celebrated at the Mantra Motel, awards were presented to the following amazing Lions and Community:
-Connecting the World Through Service Award (corporate Melvin Jones Award) - Bunnings Mount Gambier represented by Hannah Harvey.
-Melvin Jones Fellowship - Jill Austin
-Progressive Melvin Jones Fellowship - Past District Governor Trevor Jacobs
-Life Membership of Lions Clubs International - Greg Driscoll.

It’s convention time. Members are enjoying the fellowship of other Lions from throughout Australia at the Wayville Showgrounds.
Lions Ross, Martin and Beccy posed in front of our Club banner that is one of many displayed in the convention auditorium.
Club Secretary Beccy was thrilled to be asked to be Chief Judge of the National Leo of the Year competition and got to announce the winning Leos.
Beccy also received a Golden Roley Award from the Lions Eye Health Program for her passion and advocacy of the program.

Yesterday Lions Trevor, Cody and Martin enacted 2026 Operation Warmth. This is the second year our Club has gone on a shopping spree, purchasing blankets and warm throws for those who are doing it tough.
Our astute shoppers loaded up 4 trolley loads of lovely warm and cosy items which have already been delivered to AC Care and Vinnies.

Zone Chairperson Beccy Field along with the presidents of the 3 Mt Gamber Lions Clubs; Lions Club of Mount Gambier, Peter Pignotti, Lions Club of Blue Lake City Lioness Sue Jacobs and Lions Club of Gambier City Inc Graham Phillips took the opportunity of a joint Club function to present a cheque to Australian Lions Foundation District Chairperson David Thomas, our District ALF Chairperson. The $3311.00 total represented the funds raised from 3 Lions On Safari - Bunnings Sausage Sizzles and donations from the very generous member of the public in the city of Mt Gambier over the March long weekend.
Club members from all 3 Clubs agreed that the total be donated to the Flood and Fire Relief appeal recenly launched by the foundation.

It was the annual Battle of the Tail Twisters last night and 4 Clubs banded together to try and ‘out - joke’ their fellow Tail Twisters. Representing their clubs were Mike Matuschka from Lions Club of Penola, Trevor Jacobs from Lions Club of Mount Gambier, Janet Bellinger from Lions Club of Blue Lake City Lioness, and Brad Smith from Lions Club of Gambier City.
The eventual winner, determined by the Presidents of the respective Clubs, was Mike Matuschka from Penola. Mike was a presented with the perpetual trophy by Zone Chairperson Beccy Field.
Through the night the small fines for those mentioned in the light hearted jokes, and proceeds from the raffles raised approximately $200 from members, which will be directed to the Mt Gambier Breast Cancer Support Group.

Our Dinner Meeting was exceptional last night with a phenomenal 40 years of service chevron being presented to Haydn McPherson by Zone Chairperson Beccy Field.
Our guest speaker for the evening was Tim Frost from our local Salvation Army who discussed the origins of the ANZAC Accolade and a little of his life story. Tim was thanked by President Peter Pignotti.
