This week is Volunteers week. Lions Club of Gambier City had 3 nominations. Tony Pasin MP presented Lion Peter, Lion Trevor and Lion Brad (absent - represented by President Graham) volunteer certificates and shared a morning tea with a number of people across our community who donate so much time in helping others. Lions Club of Gambier City hosted a mini gifting night last night. Recipients of our fundraising included local agencies such as FoodbankSA, In Home Hospice Care, Headspace and SEAWL. It was our pleasure to provide them some funds that help them in a number of different ways in these challenging times. Lions Club of Gambier City Tuesday night held a social meeting at Sunset Kitchen. and the club donated $500 to Sunset Kitchen to support the work they do for those doing it tough in our community. The staff cooked us a wonderful meal, Thank you for your hospitality!

Lions Club of Gambier City donated to Breakthrough T1D, thats type 1 diabetes who held a fundraiser walk today at the Valley Lakes. Gambier City Lions members also cooked a BBQ for the participants. Fundraising is continuing until June 2026.

Lions Club of Gambier City have sponsored our story dog "Lexi" for nearly 3 years now. Lexi attends Suttontown Primary School each week with her owner Diane, to have students struggling in reading to actually read to Lexi, providing a wonderful opportunity to improve their reading abilities. Recently Lexi was diagnosed with Glucoma and unfortunately lost her eyesight. Lexi is a brave dog, and is still loving life and and regularly attends the Suttontown School as part of her duties. Lexi today attended Bunnings as part of Lions Awareness Weekend to meet people and show how our club can make a difference. Great to see you be so happy & strong Lexi !!😀

Lions Awareness Weekend this weekend, the Lions Club of Gambier City participated with zone 11 clubs at Bunnings. A promo display in the Bunnings foyer staffed by members of the zone 11 clubs, club members clowning around at the BBQ, and we had a visit from our sponsored story dog (see next post). proceeds of the BBQ will be donated to Australian Lions Foundation Flood & Fire Relief appeal.

Lions Club of Gambier City this week donated a rooming-in crib to the Mt Gambier Hospital for community use across the Maternity and Pediatric Wards. The crib is to help new mothers breastfeed, and is the first for the hospital, the other is a loan crib proving a sought after piece of equipment across the ward. The Crib was sourced through Aidacare Healthcare Equipment.
