Leave A Light On Inc Leave A Light On to be a voice and raise awareness of all long term missing persons in Australia Leave a Light On began in 2015. Suzie Ratcliffe
(1)

Leave a Light On aims to raise awareness of missing persons cold cases in Australia. By working alongside other missing persons organisations we can promote long-term cases and raise awareness of the need for ongoing support for families and friends dealing with the ambiguous loss of a missing person. Leave a Light On was inspired by the memory of my sister Joanne Ratcliffe who was kidnapped from

the Adelaide Oval on August 25th 1973. After her disappearance every night my parents would leave the front porch light on in the hope that if she came home, she would know we were waiting for her. Even though more than 40 years have passed, the search for Joanne continues. Annually on 21 October, we ask everyone, no matter where you live, to Leave A Light On in memory of the many missing persons across Australia. Be it a front porch light, an indoor light, or burn a candle in memory, join us to Leave A Light On and brighten their way home. Personally, I hate asking for donations, but as Leave A Light On is a not for profit organisation, we rely on the generosity of the public for donations to cover costs, for example setup and catering for our yearly function for families and friends of missing loved ones. All donations are tax deductible. To donate to Leave A Light On inc, our bank account details are as follows:

On behalf or Leave A Light On, and the beautiful families of missing loved ones, thank you for your support.

Laurence Paul Lander was born on 15 November 1958. He was last seen alive at about 8 am on 23 March 1982, he was just 23 years of age.

Laurence was last seen at his home in Cooranbong, NSW.
Laurence was seen to walk into the bush on the farm he lived at on Mt Faulk Road, and was later expected to return to the house but did not arrive.

Laurence was intellectually disabled and suffered from a medical condition requiring daily medication.

Laurence had several visits to hospital regarding his mental status years prior to him going missing. It appears that Laurence had been discharged into the care of his parents well before the date of his disappearance.

An inquest was held on the case in June of 2015.
The evidence indicates that at about 8.00am on 23 March 1982, Laurence left his home address on a farm at Mt Faulk Road, Cooranbong where he resided with his parents and walked into the bush. At the time he was wearing blue jeans, yellow collared shirt with brown circles and black shoes. He was carrying a water bottle filled with water.

The area surrounding the house from where he went missing is 200 acres of bushland.

He was reported missing to Morisset Police Station, 3 days later, on 26 March 1982.

The family confirmed they searched around the bush themselves, but indicate that no search was conducted by Police. All checks completed through the Missing Person’s Unit, including Centrelink, Medicare, Immigration and Financial Institutions, have shown no activity or activation by Laurence.

The coroner is noted as saying, 'It seems that despite Laurence Lander being reported missing to Police three days after his disappearance no efforts were made by police to search the bushland surrounding the property of his parents where he was last seen alive. Moreover, it seems that the efforts made by police to investigate Laurence’s disappearance were negligible.'

'Laurence's disappearance may have been suspicious but we will never know. I do note however that significant changes have been made to the NSW Police Standard Operating Procedures in regard to missing persons and that those operating procedures would ensure that a missing person like Laurence would not fall off the
radar today.'

'Laurence clearly had mental health issues. It is unlikely he had the wherewithal to survive on his own, without coming to the attention of authorities.'

Accordingly, the coroner is satisfied that as he has been missing since 23 March 1982 and taking into consideration the circumstances of his disappearance and his mental health issues he was satisfied on the balance of probabilities that Laurance Lander is deceased.

'However there is no evidence before me in relation to the details of his death so in relation to the manner and cause of his death I make an open finding'.

Unfortunately, Laurence’s parents are now deceased. He is survived by his sister.

Today we leave a light on for Steve (Steven)

A mother left wondering if she will ever know what happened to her son..

A daughter left searching for answers as to what happened to her beloved father...

Family left hoping they will finally have answers so they can bury Steve, and find some form of resolution...

The public figure of Steven Williams has always been seen as a big, tough former president of the Gypsy Joker MC, heavily tattooed and solidly built…. But for the friends and family of Steve, they knew the true gentle giant beneath.

A kind, protective, caring and respectful person, Steve was a family man, a good man who adored his daughter, who felt deeply not just for his family, but for those who needed help.

38 year old Steven Charles Williams dropped in to see his mum in Willaston South Australia around noon on Tuesday 14th June 2005.

Although he didn’t stay long, Steve's mum noticed he didn’t seem himself, and somewhat distracted. Whilst there, he received a phone call, presumably from his boss, and mentioned he was going to the Gepps Cross Hotel.

Police investigations have revealed it is believed Steve, a debt collector, was dropped off to Singleton’s Transport Gillman, by an associate, allegedly to collect money from someone who worked there. Police believe foul play is involved in Steve’s disappearance, and believe he has been murdered.

Steve has not been seen since this date. Bank accounts have not been accessed and he has not contacted any of his family or friends. It is completely out of character for Steve to not stay in contact with those he cares about. Steve was an extremely proud father, he loved his daughter, and would not go for such a length of time without contacting her.

Over the years there have been many theories into his disappearance, but sadly none of these have panned out in to locating him.

Involved in the activities of the Gypsy Joker MC, the publicized figure of Steve Williams was just one side of this man. His family and friends know the other side - the kind, caring soul, who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

At the time of his disappearance, Steve was described as standing 185cm tall with an athletic/muscular build, had long, brown hair with blue eyes, a goatee beard and light moustache. Steve had numerous tattoos on his upper torso and arms, and scars from a vehicle accident.

If you have ANY information which may assist police to locate Steve, and put an end to the suffering his family have endured, please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000

There is a reward on offer of $200,000

Today we leave a light on for Robert

Robert Dickie - A father, a rock, a provider, a protector, a person you look up to and aspire to emulate...

Robert Dickie - A loving father, dedicated grandfather, great mate, loyal friend...

Robert Dickie - Now missing from the lives of his family for 10 years...

A person of habit, 71 year old Robert Dickie has not been seen since approximately 6pm Tuesday, 14th June 2016.

It is alleged he was seen leaving his home on Wattle Road, Elong Elong New South Wales on foot, and may have been in the company of another person.

Robert was reported missing the following morning by family members when he did not return home as planned.

Robert has failed to contact family or friends, nor has he attempted to access any bank accounts since this date.

It was quite out of character for Robert to not keep in contact with family and friends. Robert had a number of animals on his farm, and it is unlike him to leave them unattended without organising care for them.

Police believe foul play is involved, and although a woman was extradited from New Zealand in early 2020 and charged with Robert's suspected murder, a trial subsequently found it couldn’t be proven beyond reasonable doubt she murdered him.

At the time of his disappearance, Robert was described as standing approximately 174cm tall with a thin build, grey hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. He also had a handlebar style grey mustache and beard when last seen.

Robert has a number of tattoos on his body, including a tattoo of a snake and dagger, devil and eagle, tiger and panther on his right arm, a tattoo of a skull and crossbones on his left upper arm, and a tattoo of an Australian Flag on his chest. Robert was last known to be wearing blue denim jeans and a red tee shirt. Robert would now be aged 81 years old.

Robert's family have had to endure unfathomable heartache, as just 7 days after Robert disappeared, his grandson also went missing. (**Please note the two disappearances have been thoroughly investigated and it can be confirmed they are NOT linked to each other)

Robert's family would dearly love to know what happened to him and appeal to anyone with ANY information, no matter how insignificant they feel it may be, to PLEASE contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
