High fire danger for Friday - today might mark the end of fire season but there is still a risk present over the coming weeks. Follow CFS guidelines and be safe.

⚠️ Elevated Fire Weather Forecast for Tomorrow ⚠️

While tomorrow officially marks the end of the Fire Danger Season, dry conditions remain across the state and continue to pose an increased fire risk.

This week alone, our volunteers have responded to more than 14 grass fires across the state, highlighting how quickly fires can start and spread.

🔥 With the risk still in the landscape, please take caution and remain vigilant when conducting any activity involving fire.

If conducting a burn, ensure a responsible person is in attendance at all times, water or a suitable fire extinguisher is available, and regularly check once the fire is extinguished to ensure it hasn't reignited. Ensure you follow any local restrictions or guidelines.

Your actions can help prevent unwanted fires and keep our communities safe.

Make sure you’re prepared, this weather system is BIG. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Here’s the updated Flood Watch area in South Australia. This image shows just how much of the state is covered in the Bureau of Meteorology Flood Watch issued today.

Yep, that’s right, pretty much the whole state! So, it’s important for all of us to be prepared.

The highest rainfall totals are forecast over North East Pastoral district during today. However, rainfall is forecast to extend southwards from Friday and over the weekend. Accumulated rainfall totals will be significant.

What can you do to be prepared and stay safe?
> Where it is safe to do so, clear gutters, downpipes and drains to prevent water damage to your home or property
> Check whether you need sandbags. If your property is prone to flooding, SES sandbag pod locations are listed on the SES website: https://www.ses.sa.gov.au/incidents-and-warnings/about-sa-ses-sandbag-locations
> Never drive, ride or walk through floodwater.
> Keep children well away from floodwater, creeks and storm drains.
> If you’re travelling, ensure you have adequate food and water for the trip. Visit the South Australia Police website for more information about holiday and remote travel safety: www.police.sa.gov.au/your-safety/crime-prevention-and-security/holiday-and-remote-travel-safety
> Take extra care, drive to the conditions, and adhere to road closures. You can check road closures via SA Infrastructure and Transport TrafficSA website: www.traffic.sa.gov.au
> Check on friends, family and neighbours during and after this rain event to ensure they’re safe and doing OK

Just a reminder that many of our community have been affected by the Tooperang Fires in many different ways. No matter how you have experienced the fires they will have had an effect. Remember ‘it’s ok not to be ok’! Talk to someone if you need. Keep a kind eye on those who may be struggling right now and ask ‘are you ok?’ ☺️

Sunday Support 🧡 Not everyone shows the same signs of struggle, but noticing any change can be a reason to check in.

If someone is acting out of the ordinary, it’s not necessarily cause for alarm, but it is a sign to pay attention. Learn some common signs to look out for 👆

Some people may openly talk about how they’re feeling, but not everyone does. If you’re worried about someone or yourself, support is available.

‼️Fix released by Telstra for older 📲Apple mobiles using Telstra that prevented 🆘emergency calls going through - see below

Telstra have released a fix for the older Apple mobile phones (including recently updated iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X) on the Telstra network issue that prevented some phones from making calls.

Follow the advice on the Telstra website if your phone has been affected

⚠️ Important safety information – Apple mobile phones 📱 on Telstra ⚠️

Some older Apple mobile phones (including recently updated iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X) on the Telstra network may be unable to make phone calls, including calls to Triple Zero (000), following a recent software update. If you have an impacted device and have not already updated, please delay the update as Apple is currently working on a solution.

This is a national issue and Triple Zero (000) will still receive calls from all other mobile phones and landlines.

Telstra has identified a workaround that redirects 000 calls to an alternative (SOS) network, only where one is available. Please note this may take a minute to connect when an alternative network is utilised.

If you are affected and do not have other mobile network coverage in your area, please plan an alternative way to call for help in an emergency.

This could include:
• Identifying a nearby person with an unaffected mobile phone
• Identifying a nearby available landline or pay phone

With ongoing hot weather and elevated fire danger expected across the state in coming days, please make sure you have a backup option in place if this issue affects you.

Update 29 Jan 2026 at 3:30PM (AEDT):
• Apple has released a carrier settings update to fix this issue
• To install the update, follow these instructions:
Connect your impacted iPhone to Wi-Fi
Tap Settings > General > About
Accept the carrier settings update by tapping “OK”
Confirm the update installed by going to Settings > General >
About and make sure it says “Telstra 54.1” next to Service Provider
• If the Service Provider version does not show “Telstra 54.1” check you’re connected to Wi-Fi and repeat the steps above.
