Check out the images that represented each state at the Australian Interstate Photographic Competition. Some incredible images here.

Congratulations to Victoria who won the most points by any state in the competition and took out the Alan Moran award this year. NSW tied for second place with WA.

Congratulations to our member Nilmini De Silva who had two images selected in the Digital Colour section for NSW. Congratulations as well to all the individual award winners and our friends and colleagues in other clubs who were selected to represent out state.

Hornsby Heights Camera Club is delighted to share we have placed 7th in the Australian Photographic Society’s Australia Cup, receiving a Honourable Mention!

This year, 60 clubs from across the country took part in this national interclub competition.

Congratulations to all our members whose images were selected to represent the club, and to all the clubs and individual photographers who participated and received awards.

A big thank you as well to the APS, the organisers and the judges for the time and effort that goes into making this competition possible.

We always enjoy being part of a team competition, and we are incredibly proud to see our members continuing to grow, challenge themselves and develop their creativity.

Our August Set Subject and Open Competition, with the theme ‘Maximalism’, celebrated images that were visually rich and layered, embracing complexity, abundance and organised chaos. Unlike minimalism, which focuses on simplicity and negative space, maximalism fills the frame with vibrant elements, textures and relationships between subjects.

This was the first time we had tackled this set subject at the club, and we were blown away by the wonderful array of images and the way our members embraced the challenge.

A big thank you to our judge, Don Munro, not only for his wonderful feedback and encouraging comments, but also for the education he provided last year, which helped prepare us to tackle this subject.

Our July Set Subject and Open Competition with the theme ‘Minimalism’ celebrated images that used negative space and simplicity to create impact. Members were encouraged to embrace the emptiness and the idea that less is more.

A big thank you to our judge, Douwe Djikstra (Dex) for his wonderful feedback and encouraging comments for improving our images. As always we had a wonderful portfolio of images and we congratulate all our members for giving this Set Subject a red hot go! Special congratulations to our Top Shot winners:

This is the schedule for the live judging of The Australian Photographic Prize. I have put a link in the comments and you can sign up to stay up to date or follow them on Facebook. All images that made the Top 30 will be judged live, which is a wonderful opportunity to expand your knowledge of photography.

This is a wonderful opportunity to expand your visual literacy while listening to some of Australia's best in the business discuss the pros and cons of the various images. You can also check the gallery for images that did well in the past.

The Australian Photographic Society thanks all APS members who generously submitted their images for consideration in the APS Prints in Athens exhibition. We hear the response was outstanding, and the quality of the entries was exceptionally high.

We are happy & honoured that one of our members Nilmini De Silva has had her image selected for exhibition. APS has informed us the selection process was extremely challenging, with many excellent works competing for a limited number of places. The participation and support of members have helped showcase Australia and the strength and diversity of the Australian Photographic Society's talent on the international stage.‍

Congratulations to all APS Members who have had their images selected and to the selection panel for the effort that has gone into this.

If you are not an APS member, have a look on their website and ask one of the committee members about the benefits of joining!

Our June Competition was an Open competition that allowed everyone to enter their favourite images from genres that were passionate about.

A big thank you to our judge, Peter O’Brien who gave us in-depth feedback on our images and how they might be improved. As always we had a wonderful portfolio of images.
