This week we held the judging of our annual photo rally to honour the memory of two of our past members. Results of the 2026 Photo Rally for the John Sidebotham and Alan Torrens Memorial Trophies can be found below.

Congratulations to everyone who took the time to participate in this event, held in the month preceding the judging. There are two trophies to be won, given to the winners of the Print and Digital sections.

Camera House Hornsby Photography Night: Meet, Try & Shoot

This month the Hornsby Magazine's cover image taken at the fountain was by our club member Nilmini De Silva.

If you book your spot at our our free collaborative event with Camera House you get to do some night photography this Saturday which will include the fountain.

Overview
Get hands-on with Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fujifilm, Sigma & DJI gear, then join us for a night street photo walk through Hornsby.
Join us at Camera House Hornsby from 6:30pm on Saturday, 26 September for an evening dedicated to photography, gear and getting out to shoot.

We’ll be joined in store by some of the biggest names in photography, including Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fujifilm and Sigma and DJI, giving you the opportunity to chat directly with the brands, get hands-on with the latest equipment and ask all those questions you’ve been wanting answered.
Whether you’re looking to spend an evening with other photographers, ask the representatives any questions you may have or test out the latest and greatest, this is a great chance to see and try a range of cameras, lenses and accessories in person.

After the in-store trade show, we’ll head out together for a street photography walk through Hornsby, finishing with an opportunity to photograph the Hornsby Fountain and put some of the evening’s tips and gear into practice.

We are happy to share that three of our members had images chosen to represent The Australian Photographic Society at the Four Nations Cup held between the photographic societies of Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa. One image each was chosen from 80 photographers in each country. Australia came third this year.

Our August Set Subject and Open Competition, with the theme ‘Seasons and Weather’, celebrated images that showed the mood of a season though light, landscape, food, clothing or weather.

A big thank you to our judge, Shane Clarkson, who stepped in at the last minute to make that trip up to our club and help us out with his feedback.

Congratulations to all our members for giving this Set Subject a go! Special congratulations to our Top Shot winners with a shout out to Pierre Fonsny in particular who took out THREE of the four top shots on offer--the first time this has been done, since we introduced the Top Shot award.

Check out the images that represented each state at the Australian Interstate Photographic Competition. Some incredible images here.

Congratulations to Victoria who won the most points by any state in the competition and took out the Alan Moran award this year. NSW tied for second place with WA.

Congratulations to our member Nilmini De Silva who had two images selected in the Digital Colour section for NSW. Congratulations as well to all the individual award winners and our friends and colleagues in other clubs who were selected to represent out state.

Hornsby Heights Camera Club is delighted to share we have placed 7th in the Australian Photographic Society’s Australia Cup, receiving a Honourable Mention!

This year, 60 clubs from across the country took part in this national interclub competition.

Congratulations to all our members whose images were selected to represent the club, and to all the clubs and individual photographers who participated and received awards.

A big thank you as well to the APS, the organisers and the judges for the time and effort that goes into making this competition possible.

We always enjoy being part of a team competition, and we are incredibly proud to see our members continuing to grow, challenge themselves and develop their creativity.

The Australian Photographic Society thanks all APS members who generously submitted their images for consideration in the APS Prints in Athens exhibition. We hear the response was outstanding, and the quality of the entries was exceptionally high.

We are happy & honoured that one of our members Nilmini De Silva has had her image selected for exhibition. APS has informed us the selection process was extremely challenging, with many excellent works competing for a limited number of places. The participation and support of members have helped showcase Australia and the strength and diversity of the Australian Photographic Society's talent on the international stage.‍

Congratulations to all APS Members who have had their images selected and to the selection panel for the effort that has gone into this.
