Mount Burr Trails Nature based trails in a forest reserve. Easy walk under majestic Eucalypts and a short hike with scenic views from Mt Muir (an extinct volcano).

Mount Burr Trails Inc. is a volunteer community group dedicated to creating safe, family friendly, nature-based trails and to the restoration of natural habitat surrounding the trails. The trails are shared use for walkers and cyclists with specific trails designed for the mobility assisted and future trails dedicated to mountain biking. This project has been, and continues to be driven, created and maintained by community volunteers and depends entirely upon volunteer availability and funding. MBT volunteers recently assisted with Southern Brown Bandicoot surveys in nearby Native Forest Reserves following workshops held by Nature Glenelg Trust and the Limestone Coast Landscape Board. The workshops highlighted the threats to Bandicoots, particularly from foxes and cats and encouraged volunteer involvement to identify populations and help with their protection.
Although none were sighted by our group, we did find some evidence (diggings) of recent Bandicoot activity and have since been monitoring a wildlife camera to hopefully capture some footage...
No Bandicoots as yet, but plenty of forest activity...both good and bad!

Congratulations to Mt Burr Primary School student Fergus, whose wonderful design for the Meeting Circle will be made into a permanent sign. It certainly was a difficult choice to pick just one design given the outstanding quality submitted by the students. Fergus has won a bird book and a Toy Kingdom voucher. Well done.

A few weeks ago we invited the students of Mount Burr Primary School to draw a picture of the meeting circle. We will be choosing one design which will then be put onto a permanent sign on the trails.
Today we attended their assembly and viewed all the wonderful designs they have created. It’s going to be tough to pick just one.
Well done students on all the fabulous pictures.
