This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Do you want to make a real difference in your community?

The Literacy for Life Foundation is looking for a passionate and community-minded Literacy Campaign Facilitator (teacher) to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults to improve their reading and writing through the YES, I CAN! literacy program.

✍️No formal teaching experience required!
We provide paid training and ongoing support to help you succeed in the role.

About the Role
This is a casual position approx 16 -20 hrs a week supporting the delivery of literacy classes in the Mossman community.

We’re looking for people who:

βœ… Want to help their community improve reading and writing skills
βœ… Are keen to learn new skills
βœ… Enjoy working as part of a team

Requirements
βœ” Year 10 equivalent literacy skills
βœ” Current Driver’s Licence
βœ” Blue Card (or ability to obtain one)
βœ” Police Check (or ability to obtain one)

Key Duties
β€’ Support and encourage local community members to enrol in the program
β€’ Deliver YES, I CAN! lessons with support from the Education Lead
β€’ Monitor and support student progress
β€’ Assist with administration, attendance records, meals and refreshments
β€’ Promote literacy and learning throughout the community
β€’ Help create a welcoming and supportive learning environment
