The 14 JESTTers had a wonderful day out aboard the Lady Douglas today. Thanks to everyone that attended and the crew Dave and Celia for looking after us.
Even Crocadillis the croc, who I organised early in the day, arrived on time. He has asked who has volunteered to be his dinner. I will sell raffle tickets at our next gathering for that.

A reminder to all that the JESTT GROUP ( Just Excited Socialisers Telling Tales) is this Friday doing something different.
Instead of dining out we are doing a lunchtime cruise on the Lady Douglas.
We welcome anyone living in the Shire to join us. You do not need to be an RSL member.
Boarding will be 12 15 pm at the Port Douglas Marina. $45 per head.
Come and have fun and be part of the Mossman and Port Douglas JESSTers.

Another successful JESTT lunch; this time hosted by San-ti Restaurant and Bar at Niramaya resort. The Nasi Goreng option was chosen by several of us and brought back deployment memories for some of our Vets. Good to see a second bottle of Pinot Gris was utilised to prevent dehydration as the Spring weather warms up.

Thank you to Mossman Golf Club for hosting the 2026 Diggers Challenge Golf Day. The weather was glorious after a damp set up and the course set up couldn't have been better.

With players playing off the white and red tees and most taking advantage of the chance to shorten the 7th and 14th holes meant fun golf and some cracking scores. Several players sank Eagle putts and the cheers could be heard around the course.

Thank you to all our volunteers who cooked breakfast and lunch, ensuring players were fed and to the Club Bar Staff led by Kim who ensured players were adequately hydrated!

Many congratulations to all those who won nearest the pin prizes on all par 3's and the straightest drive winners on hole 18. We could not have offered those prizes without the support of so many local businesses who donated the prizes. We are so grateful to Nautilus Aviation, Mossman Hardware, Mossman Meats, Maranos Fuel, Vic's Mowers, Livelife Pharmacy, Club Mossman, the Tin Shed and Woolies for their support.

Finally, our heartiest congratulations to the winners of the 2026 Digger's Day Golf and the holders of the Perpetual Shield, Mick Walsh and Leon Baker with a net score of 60.2!

Members of RSL Mossman venturing wider into Mareeba Shire for lunch at the Mt Molloy Hotel. Great food and service; thanks Mt Molloy.

Next event will be at the Palmers Golf Club on Friday 4 Sep. Please wear your loudest shirt! Everyone is welcome.

Thank you to all the Veterans, ADF members, RSL members, Douglas Shire Council members and Shire visitors who attended the Vietnam Veterans Day Service at our RSL Hall yesterday.

The Veterans of the Vietnam War live in our community and by continuing to remember and recognise them, we re-affirm how important their service to Australia and our community was.

Thank you to Loni Fitzpatrick for her sublime singing of the Australian National Anthem.

This Friday's RSL Mossman's lunch will be at the Mt Molloy Pub and Bistro from 1230. Thanks to Club Mossman for their hospitality at our last do!

Douglas Shire and visiting golfers, we're pleased advise the RSL Mossman sub-branch annual Diggers Golf Day, will take place on 13 September hosted by the Mossman Golf Club.

Breakfast is available from 7.15am with a sh***un start at 8.15am for an 18-hole 2 ball Ambrose competition. For those who have played the course at Mossman and are worried by the dog leg on No.7 or the out of bounds amongst the cows on No. 14, there will be a solution offered by the RSL!! Prizes for straightest drive and NTP for Ladies and Men will be on offer during the day.
