Mosman Swans provides AFL programs for children aged 4 to 18 with a strong emphasis on fun, fostering team values, sportsmanship and providing special experiences for children and their parents. The club was founded in 1997 and competed in the Northside Junior Australian Football Association for the first time in 1999. The Club was founded after representatives from both the AFL and Northside appr
oached Brett Davidson (Founding President) and Dan Milton-Hine (Co-founder) and convinced them to set up and run a junior AFL club. The Club commenced with an Auskick group (5-7 year olds), an Under 9s team and an Under 10s team: a total of 55 kids played that year. Dan Milton-Hine took over as President in 2001 when Brett returned to Melbourne to work and the Club has continued to grow steadily ever since. The Club's third President, Andrew Hurrell, took over in 2009 and continued the Club's success. In 2010 the Club was honoured for the third time in four years to receive the Champion Club award, in recognition of excellence in playing performance, promotion of the game and sportsmanship across all age groups. Gary Forster became the Club's fourth President in 2012 and Justin Dethridge its fifth President in 2013. Glenn Morgan was president for a number of years, followed by current president Dan Musson. The Mosman Swans culture is based around family and kids having fun. We have always been a Sunday based club and this has helped us maintain a family focus as many families are free from other activities on Sunday. On Sunday mornings Auskick is the focus at Allan Border Oval as families get together to relax, enjoy a sausage sizzle, and watch their kids run around. Older juniors, many of whom play in joint venture teams with neighbouring club Willoughby, play at our home ground, Middle Head Oval, and other venues around Sydney, either in mixed or girls teams. The Club is proud of its efforts to promote youth girls AFL in recent years. We have girls playing in all ages groups, in joint ventures with Willoughby.
