Gippsland Multicultural Services Inc We provide a range of services and programs for Gippsland's culturally diverse and wider community.

Gippsland Multicultural Services (GMS) was founded in 1984, and has a long history of excellence in service delivery to Gippsland's diverse community. We are a community based service managed for and by members of our multicultural community in collaboration with members of the business and service sector in the region. GMS provides services for our ageing migrants, newly arrived migrants and refu

gees, youth and community groups. We also provide a range of services to the wider community including professional development and training services. We receive grants and funding from government departments and private sector, and we are the key advocacy organisation, advising government and the wider sector on all issues of concern or relevance to Gippsland's diverse communities.

๐ŸŒธ ๐€๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐š is a beautiful country, but starting a new life here can be challenging for newcomers. Everyone faces different barriers, some may feel lonely without friends or struggle to find a job, while others may have difficulty communicating due to language barriers. Even the cold winters can be an adjustment.

โœจ But remember, making the courageous decision to move here and leave everything behind in your home country is a huge step. Keep moving forward, stay hopeful, and trust that things will get better with time. Finding a job or stepping out of your comfort zone to make new friends will gradually help you build a fulfilling life here.

โœจ This year, WEAAD highlights the unique ways older women experience ageism and gender inequality, encouraging us to reflect, learn, and take action to create safer, more inclusive communities for all.

๐ŸŒธ Diversity Lunch โ€“ June 2026 ๐ŸŒธ

๐ŸŒŸ At our ๐‰๐ฎ๐ง๐ž ๐ƒ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐‹๐ฎ๐ง๐œ๐ก, we continued building connections with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds across Gippsland.

๐ŸŒบ In recognition of ๐‘๐ž๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐ ๐ž๐ž ๐–๐ž๐ž๐ค, which will be celebrated next week across Australia, participants were invited to take part in a fun and interactive quiz. It was a great opportunity to learn something new while celebrating the diversity, experiences, and contributions that strengthen our communities.

๐ŸŒท We were also pleased to welcome ๐ƒ๐ž๐›๐จ๐ซ๐š๐ก ๐…๐ข๐ž๐ฅ๐๐ข๐ง๐  from ๐–๐ข๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ๐ฆ๐ž๐ซ๐žโ€™๐ฌ ๐•๐ข๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฌ ๐€๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ฆ, who provided an informative presentation about the support and services available to people who have been affected by crime.
One participant shared that it was โ€œgood to know there is a place where people can come togetherโ€, a reminder of how important these opportunities for connection are within our community.

Through the Victorian Governmentโ€™s partnership with RMIT University, bilingual Victorians can access support to study interpreting and translating across a range of languages. This helps more people remain connected and have access to the support services they need.
