COMMUNITY MEETING: NETWORK OUTAGE REVIEW
Wednesday 17 July 2024.
Baromi Centre Mirboo North
4:30 pm to 7:30 pm

The independent review into the operational response of electricity transmission and distribution businesses to 13 February storms and power outages is moving into its next phase.

The Network Outage Review Expert Panel has delivered its Interim Report, which is now open for public consultation with community and stakeholders.

The 13 February power outages left more than 530,000 electricity customers without power at its peak. About 90 per cent of customers were restored in the first 72 hours, but for the hardest hit communities – including Mirboo North, Emerald, Cockatoo, Gembrook, and Monbulk - it took several weeks to get the power back on.

Community informed the panel that the most important issues for them was ensuring damaged infrastructure such as downed powerlines was made safe, visibility of support locally, and the implementation of temporary generation particularly for main street services such as fuel stations and grocery stores. Accurate and timely information is vital for affected Victorians to know what is happening and when they are likely to have power restored.
