A new chapter, with the same purpose.

For almost a decade, Latrobe Health Assembly has worked alongside the community to support better health and wellbeing outcomes across the Latrobe Valley.

Today, we’re continuing that work as an independent not-for-profit health promotion charity, guided by a community-led Board and backed by DGR status.

While our structure has evolved, our purpose hasn’t. We’re still guided by the same mission, the same vision, and the same commitment to putting community at the heart of everything we do.

What an incredible atmosphere at this week’s Assembly 💙

The event was an opportunity for us to reflect on and celebrate the community advocacy, hard work, progress and achievements in our first year rebuilding as a not-for-profit health promotion charity. It was inspiring to see so much positive energy in the room, with community members, partners and stakeholders coming together around a shared commitment to improving health and wellbeing across the Latrobe Valley.

As we enter this next chapter, we’re excited about the opportunities ahead for individuals, organisations and community partners to get involved, support our work and help drive community-led action that creates lasting impact.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared their insights and continues to champion a healthier, more connected Latrobe Valley. 🙌

It is a beautiful day to say Hello. As part of our ongoing commitment to engage with local politicians, today saw us say Hello to the Federal Member for Gippsland, Darren Chester MP.

Our Board Chair, Tanya Rong, Deputy Chair Ange Gordon , and Executive Officer, Ellen-Jane Browne took the opportunity to discuss the role of the Assembly, the health needs of the Latrobe Valley and, a project close to Ange’s heart, the access to food issues facing our secondary school and university students.

As the Latrobe Health Assembly enters a new chapter, we're proud to launch our new Strategic Plan, a roadmap that will guide our work as we transition to an independent not-for-profit health promotion charity.

This plan reflects what we've learned over the past nine years, the voices we've heard across our community, and our commitment to creating lasting positive change in the Latrobe Valley.

Moving to a community-led charity is more than a change in structure. It's an opportunity to build a sustainable organisation that can continue to advocate, connect, and create impact for our region long into the future.

As we begin this next phase, one thing remains unchanged: our commitment to putting community at the centre of everything we do.

Every journey has a story. Here’s ours.

Since our establishment in 2017, the Assembly has evolved through listening, learning, partnerships and advocacy. Every year, every person and every milestone has helped shape who we are today.

We’ve celebrated successes, navigated challenges, built meaningful partnerships, amplified community voices, and continued to evolve alongside the people and communities we serve.

Now, as we transition to an independent health promotion charity, we’re building on nearly a decade of learning, collaboration and impact. This next phase is guided by a new Strategic Plan, a renewed vision for the future, and a continued commitment to putting community at the centre of everything we do.

This isn’t just a timeline of events. It’s the story of people coming together to create positive change in the Latrobe Valley.

The Latrobe Health Assembly team was so pleased to be part of the recent Student Wellbeing Day, helping to promote the Hello. Campaign alongside the incredible Live4Life Crew from Traralgon College and

The Live4Life crew facilitated an activity with their peers as part of their youth mental health advocacy work for 2026.

Created by the Year 9 Live4Life Crew in the Latrobe Valley, this initiative encourages positive peer-to-peer connection and messaging, while highlighting the strength and value of young people’s voices and promoting a connected and inclusive community. Students were invited to write a message they would like someone their age to read, sharing words of encouragement, kindness, and support.

Hello. is all about kindness and fostering social connection, so it was so great to see so many messages of kindness shared by our young people in Latrobe Valley.

A huge thank you to all who participated. The conversations sparked through this activity were truly inspiring, and it was wonderful to see so many students supporting one another through positive and meaningful messages. The messages collected will contribute to an exciting project that will be unveiled later this year.

Ladder is a youth focused program that the Latrobe Health Assembly has had a strong connection to. The Assembly partnered with Ladder to develop a program that supported the parents of those young people going through the Ladder program.

We have seen firsthand the difference the Ladder program can make in the lives of young people in the Latrobe Valley. Our Executive Officer, Ellen-Jane Browne was therefore excited to join Harriet Shing MP on Friday for the announcement of continued funding for Ladder.

The great thing about the Ladder program is that it is about building young people’s confidence, backing their potential and having someone in their corner as they take their next step forward.

The Latrobe Health Assembly is proud to support Ladder. As a community we need to make sure young people growing up here can see a future for themselves and that they have the support, skills and opportunities to be part of it. For the Latrobe Health Assembly young people are a priority, they are, after all, our future.
