🏀🖤💛 THANK YOU – MORWELL TOURNAMENT 2026! 💛🖤🏀

What a fantastic weekend we’ve had kicking off the tournament season at the Morwell Basketball Tournament! 🏀🔥

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the weekend such a success. It takes a massive team effort to bring a tournament of this size together, and we couldn’t do it without the support of our basketball community.

👏 To all the associations, players, coaches and team managers — thank you for travelling to Gippsland and being part of the weekend.

👏 To our referees — thank you for your time, commitment and hard work across the weekend. We appreciate every one of you who took to the courts.

👏 To our volunteers, venue staff, canteen workers and everyone working behind the scenes — thank you for everything you did to keep the tournament running smoothly.

And finally, thank you to everyone who came along, supported their teams and helped create such a great atmosphere across all our venues.

It was wonderful to see so much basketball, sportsmanship, friendships and passion for the game throughout the weekend. 💛🖤

We hope everyone had a fantastic time, enjoyed their basketball and travelled home safely.

That’s a wrap on the first tournament of the season — and what a way to kick things off! 🙌🏀

We look forward to seeing everyone at the next one!

🏀 Morwell Magic Women Get the Win! 🔥

What a thriller! The Morwell Magic Women have secured a hard-fought 67–65 victory over Southern Peninsula in a game that went right down to the wire.

Morwell trailed early, with Southern Peninsula leading 15–10 after Q1 and 36–24 at half-time. The Magic fought their way back in the third, cutting the margin to 55–41, before producing a huge final quarter comeback, outscoring Southern Peninsula 26–10 to steal the win.

⭐ Top scorers:

* Marley Alimpic – 23 points
* Kayla Welsh – 16 points
* Olivia Ouchirenko – 11 points
* Michelle Clarke – 10 points

A massive 26-point final quarter sealed the two-point victory and gets Morwell Magic Women a win on the board! ❤️🏀

🏀 Tough Start for the Morwell Magic Men

It wasn’t the opening round Coach Will and his Morwell Magic men would have hoped for, going down 110–65 to Southern Peninsula.

The Sharks came out firing, building a strong lead early and maintaining control throughout the game. Despite the tough result, the Magic continued to compete and showed plenty of fight across the four quarters.

Kelvin Austin led the scoring with 15 points, while Corey Whelan added 12 and Matthew Yeates finished with 9.

It’s certainly not the start the team was looking for, but there’s a long season ahead — the only way from here is up! 💪🏀
