A popular destination now reopens

The Noojee Trestle Bridge has reopened to the public after recent repairs.
The historic bridge requires periodic, ongoing maintenance works to keep it structurally sound and safe for the public.
As one of Gippsland’s most popular visitor experiences, DEECA is committed to keeping the historic bridge in a condition that will allow it to be enjoyed for many years to come.

The historic Noojee Trestle Bridge will be closed for safety repairs from 26 May to 4 July, 2025.
During this time access to the bridge and surrounding site, including the walking track from Noojee to the bridge, will be closed.
As Victoria’s tallest surviving wooden trestle, the bridge requires regular maintenance to ensure it can remain one of Victoria’s iconic attractions for many years to come.

This Watch and Act message is being issued for Arbuckle, Billabong, Howitt Plains, Reynard, Tamboritha, Wongungarra, Wonnangatta.
- There is a bushfire at Wonnangatta Valley that is not yet under control.
- The bushfire is travelling from the Wonnangatta Valley in a westerly direction towards the Howitt Road.

Don't wait, leaving the area now is the safest option - conditions may change and get worse very quickly. Emergency services may not be able to help you if you decide to stay.

Fire still burning North East of Licola. Wonanngatta closed. Some track closures.

Campers heading to the high country this long weekend should stay up to date with the latest road, track and campsite closures caused by bushfires in the Alpine National Park.

A number of roads and tracks – both driving and walking – are closed northeast of Licola and in the Wonnangatta Valley. Drivers are urged to reduce speed and show extra care as emergency vehicles and large trucks and earthmovers will be moving around the area.

All campgrounds in the Wonnangatta Valley are closed to the public, with all campsites, walking tracks and other recreation facilities in the Avon Wilderness Park and some areas and tracks in the southern section of the Alpine National Park also closed.

The Mt Margaret fire has grown to 5300 hectares, while the Wonnangatta fire has burned 612 hectares. These fires are not yet under control.
