FULL HOUSE.🏡 FULL OF FUN. 💃🕺

As everyone's sweat from the hot and humid weather yesterday so did we. We had a full house with a total of 28 participants at Happy Steps on Friday just dancing and laughing away with so much fun. We also welcomed some new faces who all received a very warm welcome from everyone.

We all love a good dance but we also enjoy the positive vibe that everyone brings to the dance floor. Something good happens when people come together and feel that they belong and that they're seen. At Happy Steps we dance like no one's watching, no judgment, just move and enjoy the moment.

A huge favourite is when we do the circle dance where everyone gets an opportunity to come to the middle of the circle and show their best dance step that everyone follows. That person then chooses the next participant to do it until everyone had their chance. It's empowering and removes barriers with some participants who start a bit shy in the beginning but develops confidence in the process.

💃🕺Join us next Friday, 11.30am-12.30pm at the Morwell East Senior Centre on 127 Vary Street, Morwell. This FREE dance class is for adults of all genders and abilities. We would love to have you.

🚑💙🧡 A BIG THANK YOU TO AMBULANCE VICTORIA!

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Ambulance Victoria to Morwell Neighbourhood House as part of their Shocktober community education initiative!

On Tuesday, our wonderful Queen Bees Women's Group enjoyed an informative session, followed by our Lovable Larrikins Men's Group today.

Both groups learnt so much about recognising cardiac arrest, performing CPR and using a defibrillator (AED) through the Call, Push, Shock sessions.

A huge thank you to the Ambulance Victoria team for taking the time to visit our groups, share your knowledge and answer everyone's questions.

These are such valuable opportunities for our community, giving people the knowledge and confidence to potentially save a life.

Just look at what can happen when our community comes together! An incredible 75kg of lemons harvested thanks to the generosity of Debbie and her family! 👏

Our Grow Hub Harvest Team is looking for more local residents willing to register their fruit trees for harvesting, along with farmers and growers who may have surplus fruit and vegetables to donate.

With demand for food relief continuing to grow, your excess produce could make a real difference to local families.

AVAILABLE AT FOODBANK TODAY.🍋🫙

Grab yourself some lemon and coconut balls or a jar of lemon butter spread when you come in to the foodbank today. 🛒

Our wonderful Stirring Stories volunteers made them yesterday dividing work among themselves so that we’re able to make more than one food offering to the community.

Together we made a total of 49 containers of lemon and coconut balls and a dozen jars of lemon butter spread.

We would love to do more and increase our weekly outputs to support more local families who are currently struggling with the rising cost of living.

But we need your help. We need more women to raise their hands and join us every Wednesday morning from 10am to do this work. You don’t need any experience in the kitchen - just some spare time and a passion to give back to our community.🏡

We are heading to Morwell NEXT WEEK for four days of subsidised cat desexing, thanks to the wonderful support of South Gippsland Animal Aid. We still have plenty of male spots available!

Did you know desexing male cats is just as important as desexing females? It can help reduce roaming, fighting, spraying and, of course, unwanted litters. After all, it takes two to make kittens! 😉

Through our Grow Hub, we're turning excess backyard produce into delicious treats for our community, reducing food waste and making sure perfectly good produce doesn't go to waste.

Huge thanks to everyone who came to the house today for community lunch.

We hope that you enjoyed today’s menu: Roast chicken and vegetables as well as Fruit Cocktail Graham Float for dessert. We know some of you came for a second round. Don’t worry we won’t tell who, lol!😜

Kidding aside, it’s during gatherings like this that we not only get to enjoy nutritious, home-made meals but we also get the opportunity to sit down and make new connections with other community members.

Huge applause to our volunteers Dawn and Kerry for turning up early and helping cook the meals. You ladies are amazing! Thank you!🙏

If you’re looking for a fun thing to do and meet up with the most friendly and happiest people around on a Friday morning, we’re that group for you. 🤗

Join our all-abilities dance class for an hour of happy steps this Friday, 11.30am-12.30pm at Morwell East Senior Citizens Centre on 127 Vary Street, Morwell.

This class is FREE and is available to adult participants. Registration is not necessary. Just turn up in your most comfortable clothing and dancing shoes and enjoy dancing with us like no one’s watching.😉
